Oops… then what?

So there I was yesterday, out on my lunch hour, happily snapping up Christmas gifts. Feeling rather smug and satisfied with myself, at how efficiently I was using my time, and how markedly unstressed I felt.   I was simply walking along, lost in thought when it happened.

I fell.

Crash – boom – bang – down she goes. Oh and it was a gloriously uncoordinated kerfuffle, too.   In dress clothes.  Beautiful.

I wasn’t paying attention. Didn’t trip, or slip. Just fell.   The sidewalk wasn’t wet or icy. There was nothing in my path. Zip. Nada.   Nope, just coming back from errands, and, deep in thought when whoooooa… down I went. Landed on both knees and palms of my hands.  And it was all in was slow motion – and darn near included a tuck & roll.  I caught myself laughing because it felt like I was in a movie, like it wasn’t real.

So, afterwards, sporting a 2 inch scuff on my favorite boots and  a 1/4 inch tear in the knee of my favorite dress pants, I gimped into the office. Never mind the bloodied knees or sore hip and elbow.  Geez.

I’m 47 years old and, yesterday,  I took the kind of spill that puts my elders in the hospital.

And what did I do?   I laughed.

I don’t know who this woman is but sometimes her responses surprise me!

Cracked me up. Happens to all of us when we least expect it. How do you feel today my friend?

  2. I am glad you aren’t truly injured. And green is not that bad of a color… :-)
