Carpe Diem, Baby!

“Seize the moment.

Remember all those women on the Titanic who waved off the dessert cart.”

  ~Erma Bombeck

Now I’m not advocating that you gorge yourself on desserts (and Lord knows there’s enough of it around at this time of year). What I’m saying is to make room for some sweetness in your life.  For me, it’s reading.  Sticking my nose deep into a twisty, turny tale and losing all sense of time.  It’s because with reading, there’s not a chance I can multi-task.  I can’t walk on the treadmill and read.  I can’t cook dinner and read.  I can’t clean the house and read.   Reading demands my total attention and, since I seem to be 7 places at once most of the time, it’s the ultimate in a sweet escape. Carpe Diem, baby!

  1. For me it is running. I do enjoy reading very much as well, but I do have the ability to multi-task with reading. Running gives me the “carpe diem” moment you have with reading.

    • Excellent. I so wish I was a runner as you are! As long as you have the “carpe diem” moment, that’s all that matters. However, walking etc. does serve to clear my head and I find I get many great ideas when working out, too :) . Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Love the carpe diem thinking. I often think about Mr. Keating from Dead Poet’s Society when I’m teaching and how he got those boys attention. Doesn’t exactly work like that of course, but I dig anyone who seizes every day the best they can.

  3. I miss reading. I don’t get enough non-multitasking time to read with two young children. Reading blogs is about all I can do right now.

I still try to enjoy the day – as it flies by at ludicrous speed and my children keep growing. :-)

    • Hi Kelly K.. thanks for stopping by. I understand completely. But with 2 little ones, spending your time with them/caring for/loving them … is always the right choice. The time does come back to you. And it’s delicious! Happy day :) MJ

  4. Read several of your posts and you sound like a great lady to me.

    Blessings on you and yours
