Nope, it wasn’t the chips, salsa, wings or beer.
It was the commercials, of course! Here are my favorites:
#1 VW can make even a dung beetle look cool (Use of “Black Betty” – brilliant)
#2 CareerBuilder Chimps wreak havoc in parking lot
#3 Hyundai’s “Sheep” .. stop settling for predictable
#4 Budweiser’s Wild West (The Clydesdales pulling the stagecoach = simply awesome!)
# 5 Pepsi Max - The entire pub laughed at the ending.
And for goodness sakes, if you’re an award winning singer blessed with pipes that CAN handle singing a song as difficult as the National Anthem, at least learn the words!

Aguilera screwing up the national anthem was classic, but we thought Lea Michele singing America the Beautiful was just a reason to squeeze one more celebrity in there. Our favorite commercial had to be the Darth Vader commercial due to the little boys in the household, one who went through a serious Star Wars phase a few years ago and one who is going through one now (don’t all little boys go through this phase? My husband did 30 years ago.) Also, the pug Doritos ad was really cute. Seeing Jillian Michaels pimping Go Daddy always makes me throw up in my mouth a little. At least they made fun of their female objectification this time.
You know, I wondered the same thing, although I did think Lea Michelle did a nice job. Darth Vader was great; I missed it in real time (not sure if I was in the ladies room or had my face in the chicken wings..but I saw it online). It would have been a favorite for me & our boys as well.. Way cool. Had to laugh at your Jillian comment – beautiful lady who did NOT look comfy in that role! Thanks for weighing in, Caroline! MJ
The half time show was simply terrible. We don’t have true music artists anymore … it was just plain terrible.
