This is what bliss looks like….

Can you see the smile on Frankie’s face? THIS is what bliss looks like

In all the world, there’s no one happier than old dog when his boy is home.

Home from school!
Home from work!
Home for the day!
Home!
Old dog is always faithfully, gloriously, waggingly happy to see his boy.
His grizzled grey face radiates  joy just being near him.
His eyes twinkle with delight as he stands at the ready …  a nap’s in order and a partner is needed?  Do tell.
Back yard chores to be done you say?
Things to sniff and people to supervise?
   Count him in!
Frankie.
Finisher of sandwich corners.
Catcher of chips.
Stealer of blankets.
Groaning, yawning, arthritic old dog.
His boy is home and he’s… happy.

 .::.

He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.

  1. They are so adorable aren’t they? Such a happy little thing :)

  2. Well said, MJ…our dog isn’t old, but he sure loves us!

  3. When my daughter married Ryan, she married Ryan and Zena. They are 25 and Zena, a black labrador became Ryan’s best friend at age 12. My daughter loves Zena soooo much, and ole Zena perks up whenever she’s around. It gives me great joy to visit their family of 3. I think their love keeps her young.

  4. I love this…you are a wonderful writer! And as usual, I so agree…a dog and his boy! A joy to see, and a source of comedy, tenderness, and love.

BTW, I didn’t congratulate you on being Freshly Pressed the other day. So happy for you. Couldn’t have happened to a better blogger!

    • Well, thank you very much, Sheila. I appreciate your kind words :)

We were blessed when he found us at the Humane Society…. he was in a kennel with 6 or 7 other larger Lab-mix pups. They were clamoring at the cage door and he just sat there quietly, waiting his turn. But when we picked him up, he nuzzled in to stay and that .. was that! Thank you for your comments … MJ

    • oh and PS on the FP thing … completely fun and totally never expected. Cheers! MJ

  6. Awesome wonderfulness as always. xoxoxo

    • He’s a mix – we think Black Labrador & Springer Spaniel or German Shorthair. He’s got some hunting dog in him as he “points” at birds in the yard. We got him from the local Humane Society & he’s been the best dog we’ve ever known … cheers! MJ
