Simple pleasures

So .. a while ago, I earned an award at work.  Who doesn’t enjoy being appreciated?  But .. the fun thing about this is that it’s not the kind of award that hangs on your wall and needs to be dusted. Oh no, this award is given in points … points that can be redeemed via a website.  A site loaded up with all kinds of cool stuff.

There’s stuff that’s fun, stuff that’s practical and stuff you’d probably never get any other way.  It’s a little decadent. And who doesn’t enjoy being decadent once in a while?

Restaurant Gift cards. Housewares. Luggage. Jewelry.  Sports & outdoors. Or … something that makes a popcorn fiend sit up and take notice …something like this:

Hello gorgeous!!!

I admit it. I’m a popcorn junkie. Certified.  I’ll happily endure a bad movie just so to have theater popcorn.

:: one of the worst I’ve ever seen ::

The Wabash Farms Whirley-Pop popcorn maker makes Theater-style popcorn – at home – in about 3 minutes. Every kernel pops and every single one is scrump-dilly-icious.  As in 8 million times better than microwaved.

I’d share but … it’s time to reorder!  Get yours at popcornpopper.com or on Amazon.

What simple pleasure have you indulged in lately?

  1. That’s a gift that keeps on giving! Nice snag, MJ. I am unfamiliar with the movie The WIcker Man, but i am a fan of Nicholas Cage. I may have to suffer through the movie, just to capture a glimpse at Nicholas…. oh, while also enjoying freshly popped popcorn.

    • I have to pace myself b/c it’s not allowed on any “diet” but … I will happily exercise more to have a bit of this once in a while. :) Nic Cage is great .. but this movie, in my opinion, was not. :) MJ

  2. OoooH! I love popcorn too
    checking the popper out
    God Bless

    • It’s simply … outstanding! It cooks fast & hot, no “tough” kernels, just light, fluffy popcorn every time. The kit I got came with the pre-measured bags of popcorn & oil. I’ve since bought some of the coconut oil that they recommend on the site (it’s butter flavored, Lord have mercy!). A little bit goes a long way … Anyone I’ve made this for swears up & down that this is the best popcorn they’ve ever had .. and, they’re right :) MJ

  3. I have to admit, I’m crazy about popcorn, too! Had some just last week. Looks like a great popper! By the way, congrats on the award.
    Hugs,
    Kathy

  4. My latest simple pleasure: Good Meadows chocolate fudge pie at Kroger’s. Oh my goodness: I eat every single crumb. Motor Man and I fight over it!

  5. It’s always nice to be recognized, isn’t it?

I love movie theater popcorn but 20% of the time (I did the math…seriously…20%) I end up with a popcorn hull wedged between one of my molars and the gum. It’s torture when it cannot be reached, but I try to dislodge it with Junior Mints, pop and more popcorn. Sad. So sad. :)

  6. I have to say, the Whirly-Pop is something I’ve wanted for quite some time. But I’m not exactly a popcorn junkie. I just enjoy the kind of popcorn this appliance makes. So I haven’t indulged. But you make it sound so worthwhile… maybe I will….

My recent indulgences? A solar gazing ball and solar lantern for the backyard corner garden. They light up so pretty at night!

    • It’s probably not something I would have ever gone and bought for myself but because I was spending “points” I thought, what the heck? It’s nifty-neato.

Love the solar lights; I’ll bet they look really pretty and peaceful out in your corner spot of paradise!
      Cheers~ MJ

  7. Last weeks “celebration” meal was movie theatre popcorn with my daughter Jenni while watch Rock of Ages :) First popcorn since August!!

  8. Popcorn lover, yes. Fan of the Wicker Man, no! I could not sit through half of it; I could feel evil seeping through the screen. Gave me the creeps!
    Keep the Faith!

  9. I recently bought a hot air popper–another popcorn aficionado here! Love the smell of it at the theater. One can usually count on the popcorn being good, but movies aren’t so predictable.

    • I love the smell of it, too. Once I saw, to my horror, a movie attendant dumping previously popped popcorn into the display case – from a bag. Ugh! That killed it for me. Boo hiss!

  10. I have that exact popper. It was a Mother’s Day gift from Jake our first year in Indiana, he was the ripe age of two. :) The gear on top is pretty much worn out – but I’ve managed to limp it along. A new one is on my Christmas idea list for this year.
On a separate but relevant note, popcorn is what we all had for dinner the other night and no one complained! Go figure.

  11. man, i want one of those soooooo bad!!!! i’m jealous. i was hoping your post would be about how you are doing a giveaway…

    • It’s the best! You gave me a good idea though … a giveaway would be a great way to declutter. I have a lot of stuff — new stuff/gifts that others have bestowed on me … hmmmm… :) MJ

  12. I like that reward program–and I love your choice of rewards! Popcorn is my favorite snack and my favorite dinner when no one else is around … I may just have to do a little shopping on Amazon. :)

  13. Oh, we love popcorn too! I try not to get started. Once I start I can’t stop till the bowl is empty. We’ve been popping ours in the microwave, but without buying microwave popcorn. Just buy regular popcorn, and pop it in a brown paper bag (lunch bag size). You can spritz a little butter or olive oil, or go bare, and you can season with all sorts of exotic seasonings. Still, not sure if it would stack up to your popper. Thanks for sharing! ~ Sheila
