I am

I heard some powerful words last night that I just had to share with you:

“Whatever follows ‘I am’ is going to come looking for you.” – Joel Osteen

Think about that, think about the words you tell yourself:

I am … tired.

I am … lonely.

I am … frustrated.

I am … unhappy with my body.

Now change those words:

I am excited about my future.

I am worthy of love.

I am capable.

I am beautiful.

Wow!

Remember … your life is how you see it.  What do you see?

I see confidence!

  1. So true. However, when I read this, I thought of “I am” as the God of the Old Testament at first, Silly me. Oops–I am NOT silly. I am——— What am I? LOL

  3. I am…..inspired :-) . Thanks.

  4. Thanks for sharing this, MJ. I think “I am” is certainly followed by different emotions on any given day. But we certainly have the power to ‘adjust” those emotions! Have a great day!

    • I think so as well … I got up this morning after hearing that and announced (to no one in particular) I AM FINE! and decided to wear a new sparkly purple sweater, the kind of sweater that garnered lots of compliments but you can’t take it on if you’re feeling “less than.” This am, I felt more than enough.

      Whoop whoop! MJ

  5. Great way to express the importance of having a positive attitude! This is a similar concept to what the author of The Secret says…you attract what you put out in your thoughts and actions. Love the photo! And I already knew you attract confidence! ~ Sheila

  6. So true, so true!
    I am…happy! And I am too. :)

  7. I am here. And grateful for it.

  8. I heard that too MJ and I was so tired, likely because I kept telling myself that I was so tired….
Love the picture. Mike Myers makes me smile.

  9. I am…. Excited
    About the future :)

  10. What a wonderful kick in the pants, MJ. I love how some of your words appear so simple, yet it seems so difficult to find when we need it most. Do you know what I mean?
Earlier this morning, I walked into the kitchen to make myself breakfast. I was talking to myself in my head (which I do all the time), and I said out loud, “I am just lazy.” I laughed when I read your post, because a nap was certainly looking to find me and my laziness. :) I’m still tired, but I also need to claim I am thankful for many things, and I am blessed in many ways. I am for certain. :)

    • Well, not that I would ever kick you in the pants, but I “get” what you mean … and it really is true.

I was in a store last weekend and the lady waiting on me was a very lovely older woman, quite striking really. I enjoyed her personality, not too pushy, but knowledgeable. There were more than a few moments during our banter at checkout that she referenced herself as “old.” Clearly, she (or someone else) has her believing that she’s old. I saw a polished, savvy lady; she clearly saw a hag. As I was leaving, I thanked her for her help and complimented her on how well coordinated her outfit was and what lovely service she provided to me. She beamed. I heard that quote this week and have thought of her since. We are what we say we are.

      Bests to you, LD.

      MJ
