Random March Friday – Roll with it

It’s here! Friday! Whoop!

1.  Been fighting a cold all week, trudging through my workout and work days and barely managing to haul my carcass out of bed every morning.  Daylight savings time kicks my behind every year.   I have never adapted to it and I doubt I ever will.  Why?  Read on.

2. Where I grew up, time didn’t change for any season or any one.  You adjusted  or you didn’t and there were no expectations about moving this or tweaking that.    You rolled with it, and that mentality has been instilled in me ever since.

3. After a busy week with my own job and department and covering for another (a role I never seem to shake) I got up early today, put on my out-of-office and called it a day. I have a capable team, my desk is in order and I happily crawled back to bed where I remained for several hours.  Ahhh.  Sometimes, we just need a time-out and if I’m the one to put me there, then so be it.

True that!

True that!

4.  Guess what sound we heard this week?  Snow … dripping off the roof.  A steady drip-drip-drip as the sun beamed brightly.   Could Spring be coming? I sure hope so.

5. Lastly, playing around with my cell phone, I tried out some new-to-me edits to a “selfie.” B&W, kinda fun, but where did my nose go?  :)

Happy Friday, peeps!

  1. Aw, I love your selfie!!! And I love that you put yourself in time-out! As a child, I remember when daylight savings time came to our area. I won’t mind it once the sun rises a little earlier than it does now. Happy Weekend, MJ!

    • Hey, thanks! I had fun goofing around with the camera. Most selfies I’ve taken look extra goofy :)

Time out was needed. Resting this afternoon with some tea and taking it easy tonight.

Still hate DST … Happy Weekend!
      MJ

  2. All my selfies are distorted. I am out of proportion with a big hunking nose. I must be doing something wrong.

    • It was on the news (seriously!) that the best Selfie is taken with the camera up and above you … if I take it straight on I look like Beaker from the Muppets :)
      Try it today!

  3. Sorry to hear you’ve been sick, but glad to know you took the day off. LOVE the selfie, MJ! Hope you are feeling well enough to enjoy at least part of the weekend.

    Hugs from Ecuador,

    • It’s mostly exhaustion + a stupid cold. I’m stressed and, despite my best efforts, the source of my stress continues to bring me down. Some days I do better at it than others, yesterday I retreated and it was the right thing to do :)

Up & at ‘em this morning, having coffee, doing laundry and blogging … while the house sleeps.
      Cheers to you from Michigan!
      MJ

  4. Good for you, making the call to go back to bed. Sometimes you just have to. Hope you feel better soon.

The snow is melting here too. Makes me HAPPY!

  5. Happy Friday, MJ! Glad you were able to go back to bed a bit and take care of you. It sounds like you’ve put in your time this week. I don’t like the time change much, either, wish they’d pick one and leave it. Great selfie. I’ve shied away from B&W after seeing my image on my Sam’s card a few years ago and it looked more like my grandmother than me! (I’m in denial.)

  6. Love it MJ….yep that is so dang true that we just roll with it…I grew up that way too…still believe it and live it:)

  7. Somehow…some way…..it’s harder for me to kick head colds and small injuries….I must be getting older. How about you? ;) Beats the alternative I suppose. :)

    • I agree. This morning, at 4:30 a.m. was the exact time my head decided to DECONGEST. AUGH!
Of course I fell back asleep and when the alarm blared I felt like I’d been punched … good grief.
but we’re around to complain about it :)

      Cheers! MJ

  8. I like your selfie too. The black and white is so cool. Hope you’re feeling all better by now.

    • Thank you, Renee. I am still fighting the cold but I think some of it is allergies and 400 weather changes in the past 6 days :) ~sigh
