One morning not long ago, I was driving my regular commute to the office when I came across an accident. There, straddling the intersection, sat two vehicles, both damaged and smoldering.
I watched anxiously as an older man left his vehicle and approached the other driver, a woman with two young girls standing nearby.
Prepared to witness a tirade, I was startled to instead see this: he opened his arms wide as if to embrace her. He offered it to her and she fell into his arms, crying. They embraced a long, long time. The little girls started to cry, I started to cry watching this. The light changed and traffic forged ahead.
Everyone was all right and that was all that mattered.
Stuff happens, but it’s how we react that makes all the difference.
