A birthday present arrived last night from my cousin in Edmonton; due to the Canadian postal strike ( read more here) she had no choice but to use an express courier service to send it. I can only imagine the cost and am touched by her thoughtfulness. (More on our lifelong friendship here … )
We don’t routinely “do” birthday gifts but she assured me that this was just a little something and hinted that she was sure I would enjoy it. She knows me well and knows exactly what would bring me delight. What could it be?
Black licorice candy? New books? Mathew McConaughey? (Come to think of it, I’ve always loved cowboys … but I digress).
Ok … back to the gift… Carefully I opened the box, undid the ribbons and tore back the tissue paper. I gasped with delight when I saw what it was: something I cannot buy here and that which causes me to drool whenever she mentions it. (other than Mathew McConaughey that is).
It’s my very own 32 oz can of TIM HORTON’S Coffee!!
*** Thank you! Thank you! ***
What she didn’t know is that the timing of this package couldn’t be better; I’ve laid out the day in front of me, hubbs is off on a golf outing, the boy is working and even the dog is headed to the groomer. Why is this important you ask? Because I finally have the perfect weather (dry & cool) for a long-awaited date with my carpet scrubber and having a pot of grade-A Timmies is just what’s needed to keep me going today!! I’m getting my work done this morning and this afternoon am heading outside with my books to be a ‘lady of leisure” … yay! If only I were reading a cowboy romance novel …
For more info on Tim Horton’s, just visit their website where you can even play Donut Sodoku by clicking here !
I’m not a coffee drinker, but this sounds like a wonderful present. Gotta love those cousin/friends!
It was … and, I got an amazing amount of “stuff” done this morning! Cheers .. MJ
Aw, you crazy Canucks with your precious Tim Hortons! Ha. Enjoy it!
You know it! I made 1/2 a pot and was on speed over-drive most of the day!! 🙂 MJ
That is so funny! I have some family in Amherst Shore right now … Tim Hortons is one of the things we look forward to experiencing while in Amherst. That and Jos. Louis snack cakes. Love my Jos Louis snack cakes.
Timmie’s is where it’s at. Sorry, Starbucks, but you’re just too bitter for me … Cheers! MJ (( and I’ve never had a Jos Louis snack cake .. don’t even know what they are? Maybe an east coast thing??) The other Canadian staple I miss & love are “Eatmore” bars .. they’re a chewy peanut candy bar …. delish .. MJ
Cheers to you as I drink my ? and you have your Tim Horton’s!!! I went back to your friendship link and enjoyed it once again. I noticed the date April 24 or 25 …about 2 mos. since I first visited your site.
It was so good I reheated the last cup and enjoyed it this afternoon (( not sure I’ll sleep tonight though .. 🙂 )). Funny coincidence on the friendship link, eh? MJ

Ha!! Thank you … he’s dreamy. I am saving this coffee for weekends when I can really enjoy it .. cheers! MJ
You definitely have good taste! Haven’t tried Tim Horton’s coffee, but will when I get the chance.
If you get the chance to try it, I will promise you it is full bodied, hearty, coffee with no bitter aftertaste. Superb. And Mathew … well he’s just a honey pot isn’t he? LOL MJ
I’m a tea drinker, MJ, but I would also appreciate some Matt McConaughey!
We’re thankful the mail strike is finally over…now we can send out our books from the bookstore again!
Wendy
Yay! On MM and Tea and an end to the mail strike 🙂 Cheers! MJ
