Lemons into Lemonade

I love this video.

Simply. Love. It.

Why?

Because it demonstrates how essential laughter is to our humanity.

In the video, “Dad” has received a rejection letter.  Watch baby’s reaction as Dad rips up said letter.

From what we see here … Dad could have stomped around, but didn’t.  He could have pouted, but didn’t.   Instead … he happened across a simple diversion that produced heartfelt joy.

Contagious joy.

Laughter is essential.  It releases endorphins that relax and rejuvenate us.  It connects us and it frees us .. all at once.

It’s awfully difficult to laugh and be angry at the same time.

  1. I had seen that video a few weeks ago. It’s impossible to watch it and not laugh.
Very appropriate comparing it to the lemons and lemonade saying!
(reminds me of the commercial where the man has just finished smoothing the wet cement on a sidewalk, and a little boy comes walking up to him (through the wet cement) and says “Hi”. ) The man just smiles and says “hi”.

    • I thought the same, Dianna. It’s awfully hard to watch and not laugh. In fact, it might be impossible.

I haven’t seen the commercial you speak of but it sounds adorable! Thanks for commenting, MJ

  2. Infectious…I think I will be chuckling into the morning and people may ask “What are you smiling at?” Thank you.

  3. Wish I could do that with my bills.

  4. Someone emailed this video to me not too long ago. I laughed at the video then, and I laugh at the video again today. Thank you for sharing the laughter, MJ.

    • It’s just so stinkin’ cute!! Love it .. talk about a great way to approach what could have been devastating. An “in the moment” moment, for sure.

      Cheers! MJ

  5. proves the adage – it isn’t what happens to you, but how you react to what happens.

    • For sure!! Life is 20% what happens and 80% how we react to it, in my opinion anyways. Thanks, Renee. Your observations are always “spot on!”

      Cheers, MJ

  6. Laughing at the malfunction of the universe is better than crying about it. It’s double cute when a baby does it 🙂

  7. So true, so true. There are times I’ve TRIED to be angry and just can’t hang onto it because someone is making me laugh.
