There’s a song I love, from a little movie that warms me, sung by a Texas Country Boy named George Strait.
George is clean cut, mannerly, and married to his high-school sweetheart. A country music legend, he possesses a kind of self-assurance and ruggedness that fails to threaten most men; the same charisma makes many women I know .. swoon (more than) just a little.
I love to kick up my heels to his up tempo swing-dance songs but it’s his romantic ballads that get me every time.
Simple, heartfelt and Strait-forward.
As only George can sing them.
I cross my heart
Our love is unconditional, we knew it from the start.
I see it in your eyes, you can feel it from my heart.
From here on after let’s stay the way we are right now,
And share all the love and laughter
That a lifetime will allow.I cross my heart and promise to
Give all I’ve got to give to make all your dreams come true.
In all the world you’ll never find a love as true as mine. You will always be the miracle that makes my life complete,
And as long as there’s a breath in me, I’ll make yours just as sweet.
As we look into the future, it’s as far as we can see,
So let’s make each tomorrow be the best that it can be.I cross my heart and promise to
Give all I’ve got to give to make all your dreams come true.
In all the world you’ll never find a love as true as mine. And if along the way we find a day it starts to storm,
You’ve got the promise of my love to keep you warm.
In all the world you’ll never find a love as true as mine,
A love as true as mine.
Ooh…one of my favorites! George Strait is definitely one of a kind! YEARS ago, my sister and I saw him in concert. Of course, our seats were so far away, we really couldn’t SEE him, but we were thrilled to be there.
The world could use more men like him.
Agreed – a favorite of ours, too. Hubbs and I saw him in Houston – at the Summit – which is now Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church! We were in the front of the lower bowl – so just above the floor. We danced in our seats the whole night – he was fantastic in concert. I agree – the world could use more men like that one π MJ
Oh, what a great song! I had never heard it before.
Hugs,
Kathy
His songs are either clever and catchy or heartfelt and tender; I like them both but this is a fave from the tender category π MJ
I’m not much for the Texas-swing sound, but love his ballads. Not bad to look at, either. π It’s nice to know some “famous” folks have found a love that lasts.
It doesn’t hurt that he’s so handsome but it helps that he’s so consistent – love his tunes π MJ
OMG I LOVE George Strait! Ocean Front Property is one of my favorites.
Ditto! I enjoy too many of his to have a favorite π MJ
Beautiful and incredible…one of our fav’s too.
He could sing me “Happy Birthday” and I’d swoon π MJ
I’m not much of a country music fan – I think I was forced to listen to too much of it as a youth. But I am a fan of the things he seems to sing about and definitely a fan of yours!
Understand – we listened to our fair share growing up. But I’ve returned to it b/c, like you, I love the message. Cheers! MJ
Love George Strait. There’s a lot of excitement around here when he comes to town. Loved the video…just wondering…something tells me you may have galloped on a horse like they do towards the end of the video. What a feeling! Thanks for the ride.
I would so love to see him again; as I commented to Dianna, Hubbs and I saw him in Houston β at the Summit β which is now Joel Osteenβs Lakewood Church. We were in the front of the lower bowl β so just above the floor. We danced in our seats the whole night β he was fantastic in concert. I have ridden “full out” on horseback like that many a time – you’re right and that scene just makes me grin π MJ
MJ, I a George Strait junkie…He is PURE COUNTRY!
He is at that .. and rather enjoyable to watch I must say!! π MJ
