Ever been in the middle of a task only to find a particular song or phrase stuck in your head? As in moved in and taken up residence?
I have and it happens to me often. And it can be charming or annoying as what.
Sometimes it’s a song that I learned in grade school: (Frere Jacques)
Sometimes it’s the theme to a TV show I enjoyed as a girl:
And sometimes … it’s a jingle I’ll never, ever, forget:
If you’ve ever experienced this, you, my friend, have had an earworm.
And now that I know what it is, maybe I can find a way to get this song out of my head! Although I do think the little dog dude is kinda cute.
Got any songs stuck in your head?
Talk about synchronizing thoughts – I’ve been singing Frere Jacques to my puppy every time I pick her up and try to cradle her in my arms. She’s a little hyper so it helps to sing.
awww … give little Gretel a cuddle for me! (I didn’t know she spoke French!) MJ
No songs in my head today — YET! But now it will probably be one of the ones you’ve shown above. If so, no problem! It will just remind me of you.
Have a good day!
(Oh, and Renee, you know I LOVE a synchronicity!)
I have been humming “Thursday-Friday-Happy Days-Saturday-what-a-day-rockin’ all-week-with-you….” all DAY!
Cheers MJ
Yes, Reba McIntyre who was at the rodeo last week!!! Gosh she’s good.
Oooh! What song? I love her – saw her when the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo was still in the Astrodome – she was fantastic in concert – what a performer 🙂
I loved her version of “That’s the night that the lights went out in Georgia.” plus all her original stuff, too. MJ
Don’t know that I have a song in my head today, but, gosh, I’d be glad to know the term “earworm” if I did. Fun post idea!
Hugs,
Kathy
Thanks Kathy – and next time you have one, you’ve got a name for it. Hugs back my friend!
MJ
Check out http://unhearit.com next time you have an earworm. It uses the “latest in reverse-auditory-melodic-unstickification technology”. 😉
That is perfection! Thanks for the link, Kelli 🙂

Lately for me, it’s been RED SOLO CUP!
UGH!
Not that I don’t love me some Toby Keith, but my husband will not stop singing that song. At least those three words, anyway!
Now that’s funny, Terri. Check out the link that Kelli provided — it really does work 🙂 Cheers! MJ
Thanks…now I have a number of tunes dancing around in my brain 😉
‘welcome 🙂 MJ
At least you had a happy song in your ear, MJ. I found myself wishing to be an Oscar Mayer wiener for YEARS! I think it’s finally gone…
ack!! That is one catchy song … Thanks Patti, MJ
Black Eyed Peas “I’ve Got A Feelin'”…. going on 3 days now… 🙂
….is it the opening 3 riffs or the chorus? I ask b/c I’ve had that one before. Lately it was Gaga’s “My P-p-p-poker face.” Great song, not so good in meetings 🙂 MJ
Totally the 3 riffs at the beginning…. do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do… lol
… had a “feeling!” HA 🙂 MJ
PS I bought the Dukan book today – your journey inspired me. I also googled “Tea Eggs” b/c I didn’t know what they were. Oh the things we learn in the blogosphere 🙂 – Thank you!
my Dukan friendly recipe is on my Dukan – Day 142 post… On iPad so tough to get the link for you, but worth the search… Glad you bought the book… You won’t be sorry, I promise xoxo
Thank you so much .. I am amazed at all you’re doing on the iPad. I can barely text 🙂 I started reading last night … Cheers!! MJ
Thanks, MJ… I enjoy your blog, as well 🙂 I’m learning new things every day with my iPad, it’s abilities are practically unlimited.
Argggh…and the Gilligan’s Island and Brady Bunch theme songs. Earworms, got ’em too. I usually try to get rid of them by trying to input/overlay a different song on the turn up the cd LOUD. Great Blog.

Yes! That’s my strategy – sometimes it works & sometimes it doesn’t. I can usually drown them out with the Bee Gees 🙂 Thanks for visiting, Anna .. MJ
lol. That last song is totally going to be in my head now today. Quick! I’ve got to find something else to replace it.
However… this is a helpful post because as I work on my business, I want to think of things/messages that will STICK. Sometimes, to STICK, they may be annoying – but memorable!
Isn’t that the truth? Often the commercials we can remember are the ones that “bugged” us … 🙂 Cheers!
