Anything can be

“Listen to the mustn’ts, child.

Listen to the don’ts.

Listen to the shouldn’ts, the impossibles, the won’ts.

Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me…

Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.”
— Shel Silverstein

  1. I adore Silverstein MJ. Very timely, good choice.

  2. This is precious! I never read this poem before. Such a sweet and perfect piece of writing! Thanks for sharing. ~ Sheila

  3. Great poem and great picture. What an amazing expression on that baby’s face!

  4. I’m not sure which I love the most – the picture or the poem! Both are totally precious!

  5. Sooo glad I found you! My kin spirit! My daughter loves Shel! She is a wonderful writer herself! I work at a spa where I have to walk people out, down a path to our Hot Mineral Spring Tubs outside and there is a spot in the path where “the sidewalk ends” I always know who I am going to like a little bit more when I warn them and they laugh and repeat “where the sidewalk ends” I know they love Shel too!

    • I have to admit that I don’t have a lot of reference points for Shel so now that so many of you have, I’m going to check out more of his writing! Thank you for commenting, CoastalMom, and please come back and visit me again 🙂 MJ

      PS … spa … ahhh

  6. Daughter #1 loves Shel Silverstein. I always think of her when I read something of his.

  7. Love. The end.

  8. Oh, how cute! Thanks for the smile today. Have a great weekend!

    • smiling back at you, Dianna. Have a great weekend yourself; it’s cool and wet here but the Tigers play tonight -whoop whoop!
