Laughter & tears

I came across that first photo tonight and laughed so hard it hurt. I know I’m overtired and stressed, and that I’m probably punchy to boot.  But then the cat photo surfaced and all you-know-what broke loose; you see, I’ve made the acquaintance of quite a few gnarly-toothed barn cats who looked like him and sounded far worse. So when the bum-in-the air elephant appeared next …  well that was it for me. I laughed and I laughed and I laughed again.  And it was good.

“Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning do to do afterward.” – Kurt Vonnegut

  1. So funny! No jokes come to mind immediately, but it’s a little late for me. Thanks for the smiles! Good night, MJ!

  2. I’m a little beyond tired and I couldn’t help but laugh, too, MJ. No jokes, you already laughed at my picture above! LOL Not telling which one…

    • Hee hee! I have no idea but if you related to one or more, you have the ability to laugh at yourself & I like that about you!! Cheers, Patti.

  3. I’m howling. Laughter is so good isn’t it?

  4. This comes to mind…maybe because of all the baby showers. Back in 2003 I gave daughter #1 a baby shower. I had bought confetti in the shape of little blue hearts. Weeks later, at school I leaned over to pick up something shimmery from the floor–one of those blue hearts! That stuff was and went every where. I had to run over to my teaching buddy next door to show her and just giggle. Now you’ve got me thinking…that was almost 10 years ago…surely I can think of something else today from the years in between.

  5. How funny, MJ! Been there. Done that. All too many times!
    Hugs,
    Kathy

  6. I’ve always wondered what I look like when I yawn….now I know. Good stuff MJ! You made me laugh.

  7. someone took a picture of me once just as i sneezed….it’s not pretty….

    • Ever tried to hold back a sneeze? I don’t think it can be done! Speaking of … everyone in my office is sneezing right now .. eek!
Good to hear from you, Coop 🙂

  8. What a hoot! Love these images, but the real fun is the ability you show to laugh at yourself. And that’s a good quality for all humans to cultivate, imho! I have some of these same illusions:)! ~ Sheila

    • I am so glad you enjoyed them, Sheila. Geez I laughed. I still do when I look at those photos :). When I met the Hubbs, I was, somewhat by necessity, an uptight and rigid person. All the laughter had long since left me. Other than times with my boy, I was as serious as serious could be. He taught me, by laughing at his own follies, to relax and let loose a little. I agree: we can’t take ourselves so seriously. I know I slip into that mode, especially when stressed, but he’s been great at reminding me that I am my own source of hilarity most of the time. Cheers! MJ
