A rather large amount of gratitude

“Piglet noticed that even though he had a Very Small Heart, it could hold a rather large amount of Gratitude.” – A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh

Today, I woke to morning’s light peeking into the yard.

I woke to old dog, sleeping soundly and without pain.

I woke to a day filled with nothing in particular to do and all day to do it.

I woke to views like this one and my soul had no choice but to smile.

isn’t Autumn glorious? {{ Click to enlarge }} an emjayandthem photo

  1. Let’s see: what’s making me smile today? Breakfast with hubby, a kitty on my lap…and reports that the storm may not be quite as bad as everyone had feared….! Have a great Saturday doing NOTHING, MJ!

    • yay on the storm!! Breakfast is my favorite meal & we’re going out for brunch with Grandpa 🙂 and who can resist a kitty-girl on the lap? Not I. Cheers! MJ

  2. Oh, that tree is stunning, MJ. I’m grateful just to see the photo. However, my Sara is baking home-made bread down in the ktchen–and that may be one of things to top my weekend. Hugs to you, my friend.

    • Isn’t it though? I’d never had a tree like this before living here – it’s glorious! MMM home-made bread .. is there any better smell? I think not. Hugs to you both 🙂 MJ

  3. A Sunday morning feeling! Good for you

  4. So glad to hear such a beautiful day awaits you.

My daughter is home from college this weekend. She’s making me smile.

  5. the chance of new snow, pumpkin carving and baking tonight, much needed alone time, hot tea…so many wonderful things to smile about 🙂

  6. Stunning!
I’m smiling while planning a birth worker conference in Ecuador followed by a trip into Peru to Machu Picchu. It’s 10 months away, but I’m excited!

  7. Your tree is making me smile – what a beauty. I sense a change of attitude. Vacation must be working already.

    • It’s working … that poor tree got battered by winds yesterday and most of those beautiful leaves are gone now … but I’m glad I got to see it in all its glory. It was a wonderful reminder that there’s many beauties around if only I look. MJ

  8. Glorious indeed! Gratitude to you for making my day 🙂

  9. What made me smile today was all the work we were able to accomplish outside today and this past week! You sound good, hope you had a great day.

    • Yay! There’s nothing quite like the feeling of getting out in that fresh air and getting it done, whatever “it” is – very satisfying! I had a very good day – cheers! MJ

  10. This is so beautiful! I’m glad you had the old dog by your side, hope he’s doing better! Happy weekend:) ~ Sheila

  12. Sunday in Virginia Beach, I smile at the spunky little birds at the feeders in 50-60 mph wind gusts and rain.

  13. A perfect picture for a Sunday morning.
