Go where you’re celebrated

I heard this yesterday and it really resonated with me, “Go where you’re celebrated, not just where you’re tolerated.

This week marks the start of the Holiday season, that jammed up time between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  For many, it’s a time of heightened expectations and high stress.   Neighbors and friends are already packed, ready to hit the road tomorrow; others are heading to the airport Wednesday, and a few more are not leaving ’till the wee hours of Thursday morning.

As I ponder on all those trying to reconnect with family this weekend, I hope for just one thing:  I hope they are met with celebration, not just toleration.

And I hope the same for you, too.

this will be my breakfast Friday morning 🙂 google.images.com

and Happy Franksgiving from old dog!

  1. That will, no doubt, be my meal Friday morning, as well. Breakfast of champions, my friend! Happy Thanksgiving week, MJ!
    Hugs,
    Kathy

  2. You always manage to inspire, MJ. Our Thanksgiving will be a quiet one, spent with family. (I’m hoping I’m celebrated and not just tolerated…!) 😉
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. And I can’t imagine you not being celebrated wherever you are!

  3. Oh, dear…MJ! I just saw your blog awards at the bottom of your page! Yesterday, as I was writing my mega blog award acceptance post for today, I was looking among my favorite bloggers for the ones who participate in awards. And I didn’t see the badges on your blog. I’m so sorry – you certainly are among my favorite bloggers! (Please feel free to take any or all of those awards on my post today!)

  4. Perfect timing…I’ve been trying to make a decision about something and this answers the question. Thanks, and Happy Turkey Day!

  5. Love the quote! May your Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays be a beautiful time spent with family and friends–and may you be celebrated everywhere you go! And by the way, pumpkin pie is absolutely one of my favorite breakfast foods!

  6. Happy Thanksgiving to you and Frankie! Somehow you’ve got me humming ♪Go tell it on the mountain♫over the hills and everywhere.♪ Wishing you a happy day, happy eating whatever your appetite desires and a happy week with family and friends.

    • Frankie is happily hanging out near the kitchen and tonight he will “help” me prepare some make-ahead foods. Grand-daughter MJ has been here a bit this week and he’s worn out, but he’s found himself a new job: taking care of her. Where she goes, he goes. He finally just passed out last night from sheer exhaustion! 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving to you! MJ

  7. Brilliant idea! I settle for tolerated most days, so I could use the reminder!

    • Don’t we all! I have finally learned (and accepted somewhat) that there are always going to be people who don’t “get” me or like me. I’m OK with it; I like me. I enjoy my company and can safely (and happily) remove myself when surrounded by tolerants. I’d rather be with the celebrants! Happy Thanksgiving to you! MJ

  8. Indeed. For the past decade or so we have been spending our Christmas day with friends who celebrate us instead of family who, well, don’t, so much. It is, definitely, the best Christmas decision we ever made. Sometimes families and celebrations go together, and sometimes not. I’ve come to a place of peace with that idea.

  9. I love that sentiment!

  10. Amen! Shelby says Happy Thanksgiving from one old dog to another.
    ~d.

  11. Happy Thanksgiving. I can’t imagine any place not celebrating you.

    • Well, thank you, Renee. Certain family members come to mind and what I’ve learned is that it’s their issue … Jimmy Cracked Corn! Doesn’t mean I don’t care or that it doesn’t hurt, it means now I know better and I gravitate to those who are genuinely happy I’m there and in their life. Easy peasy!

      Happy Thanksgiving to you! MJ

  12. Can I have breakfast at your place on Friday??? Old dog rules…“Go in peace, humans”

    • Yes you may; we’ll have 3 types of pie, good strong coffee, and great conversations!

      Happy Thanksgiving to you, Coop.

PS your book cover is spookily cool 🙂 MJ

      • pumpkin, apple and blueberry????

      • those 3 exactly! The pies are cooking tonight. Hubbs is not a pie guy but he just strolled thru the kitchen and announced, “Those pies smell really good.” Youngest boy appeared and asked, “What smells so good?” and I said: PIE! He answered … “No, it smells like HOME.”

        🙂 MJ

      • What an awesome memory for him to keep. Should do your heart good…

      • indeed it does, Coop, indeed it does 🙂

  13. Happy Thanksgiving, MJ….and may you, too, be celebrated wherever you go…

  14. Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have a wonderful day where you are certainly celebrated!
