So, there’s this big football game on Sunday: Brothers coaching the San Francisco something-or-others against the Baltimore what’s-their-names.
(smile)
If you’ve read my blog for a while, you know I’m not there for the game.
I’m there for the food and the commercials! 🙂
The Budweiser Clydesdale’s commercials are a favorite of mine and this one makes me think of two special blogging friends: D at The View Out Here who raises & trains beauties like these and Dianna over at These Days of Mine who wishes she did.
Happy Super Bowl, everyone!

Aw……MJ, thanks for mentioning me!! What a sweet thing for you to say.
I love, love, love that commercial. It always makes me smile.
(And a friend gave me a “horse wish book” for our anniversary this week.)
Have a great weekend, my friend!
I knew you’d love it and thank you for posting the new one, too 🙂 I did tour the Budweiser plant & stables in St. Louis once and yes they were there. Beauties.
Happy anniversary!! 🙂 MJ
Check it out, MJ! Bud’s commercial for this year’s Super Bowl. Now you don’t have to watch the game! 😉
LOVE! Now I can watch him over & over + watch the game, too 🙂 Thanks! MJ
I, too, love Clydesdale’s…I have two horseshoes for Clydesdale….just know the horses will show up any day. I will check the other two blogs and thans for the preview of the commercial. I don’t watch the game.
This made me cry! I want to go home back to the farm and just have one horse.
Aww, I love that you still have some of their horseshoes – sure are big, aren’t they?
I would only want a horse again if I could go back to farm living (open fields to roam, my own barn, peace & solitude).
MJ
Never have cared much for football; it bores me.
A bunch of guys bend over in a circle, then they kick a dead pig across the lawn.
Yawn…
ha ha ha! I actually do watch college football and I enjoy the hype of the Super Bowl but I can’t say I pay much mind to the game! MJ
I’ll be taking the butterfinger cake to my mother’s on Saturday! Thanks a bunch…and all those also, coming will be thanking you, too.
Yay! I do hope you’ll let me know how it turned out and was rec’d – It gives me great pride to know you’re taking one of my treats with you, neat! 🙂 MJ
Mmmmmm. Looks delicious — and evil for my diet.
Love the photograph — we dubbed hay bales like this “alien pods” when our son was little. He was very interested in space and thought it was hilarious. So I love your photo of our neighbors.
Elyse, when my son was little, we called those bales “worms”, especially so when they were lined up i the field!
another creative mom! 🙂 MJ
How funny. You must smile at them a ll the time like I do.
Alien pods – ha! What little kid wouldn’t love to ponder on that? You are very creative, Elyse 🙂 MJ
I think my husband was responsible for the moniker — he’s the alien in our household!
That’s such a sweet commercial!
I’m not having or attending a Super Bowl party. But I might just have to make one of your yummy foods for us to enjoy at home. The Heath Bar brownies would go over great!
I know, I just love those horses :). We are just having 1 couple over and I already prepped the Skyline Chili. They’re bringing stuff for sandwiches & I’m making some Queso sauce and BBQ Meatballs — finger foods, mostly. I did prepare a Veggie tray just to balance it out!
I can tell you this: every single place I’ve taken the Heath Bar Brownies … they’ve always been a hit. I just know your family will enjoy them! MJ
The Clydesdales are always my favorite commercial too. And the superbowl is fun for all of the reasons you outlined – the food, the friends, the commercials, the half-time show – not to mention the game itself and the drama behind the scenes. Oh yeah – MJ – I’m gearing up!
Yeah! It was a fun time, the game was up & down, the food was amazing and we had laughs with great friends. Can’t beat that 🙂 Good to hear from you, Renee. Hope things are settling down on your end 😉 MJ
Happy Super Bowl to you, too, MJ! SInce my dad was a bookie, Super Bowl Sunday was always a big deal in our house–and not always in a good way. It all depended on who won!
Sorry to have been so absent recently. Selling our house in the US and moving to Ecuador has proven more all-consuming than I might have imagined.
Hope you’re staying warm. I suppose the big game is getting started even as I type this.
Hugs,
Kathy
I can imagine you are swamped with details of your pending move and I hope that, somewhere in there, is time for you!! Take care my friend, MJ
Your recipes look wonderful. Unfortunately, about this time of year I’m so porked-up from the holiday feasting that I can’t even think of fixing anything like that. But I’ll set them aside for some parties coming up this spring and summer. Thanks!
