Spring’s come late to Michigan; we had snow as recently as two weeks ago. Not surprisingly, everyone around here is thinking ahead to summer.
Asked, “what’s on your summer list?” I found my list rolling off my tongue as though I’d practiced it for days! (maybe some of that’s true).
Lilacs!
Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy with me at the grill.
Hanging in the pool till I’m wrinkly and white; cherries, watermelon, corn on the cob and fresh summer peas.
Tigers baseball on the radio .. outside; play dates with the grand kids.
Summer gatherings, skirts, kitten heels and date nights … all under the light of a summer moon.
Lacy sweet peonies that take me back to Grandma’s garden.
Fresh peach cobblers and Texas Sheet cakes, just because.
The squeals of children filling the backyard.
A contented old dog reminding me to take my time in the sun, too.
That’s what I long for this summer.
What’s on your summer list?
Thanks to Jessie for the inspiration!
Looks like a lovely summer-to-come! And your lilacs look amazing. I can smell them just by looking at the photo. Bet you can’t wait till they bloom again this year!
Sara and I will be exploring Ecuador and looking for a permanent place to live here.
Hugs,
Kathy
Oh the Lilacs are glorious! Frankie and I spent about an hour outside just sniffing them last night 🙂
Happy adventures to you in Ecuador! MJ
Wonderful list, MJ! My list is short and sweet: driving on the beach with my sweetie as often as possible, looking for those horses!
And I know you will find them, Dianna!!

Spring? You got spring? It’s been a frustrating spring in Pennsylvania. Had frost last night. FROST! We never get frost this late. My plants are overnighting in the garage these days. They are predicting 80 degree weather later this week but we’ll see. I am beginning to loose faith in the predictors and it’s still hard to think about summer when I’m cold!
We’ve had about 4 days of spring, not counting yesterday. Supposed to be mid 70’s today, which is perfect for me, and yes we had Frost this past weekend! I have not bought any annuals yet though … MJ
Looks wonderfully inviting and yummy! I hope your summer unfolds just as you expect, with lots of beautiful color, fragrance, taste, and memories! ~ Sheila
I’m hoping the same! 🙂 MJ
Wow, sounds absolutely perfect. Thanks for sharing… needed a little pick me up this morning and your pics of summer fun made me smile and dream of the days to come!
I needed the same — and just looking through the pictures and thinking about summer made me smile 🙂
Thanks for visiting, Sandra, good to hear from you again!

Spring is late in Wisconsin too. We did have to mow the lawn but my lilacs aren’t even close to blooming. 😦
Full bloom now 🙂 MJ Hang on, it’s a-coming!
Summer sounds fabulous at your place. You really know how to celebrate the season!
