Ever hear a random song that takes you right back to your youth?
There’s many that do that to me. Dr. Hook’s: “Only Sixteen.” The Carpenter’s “Close to you.” Peter Frampton’s “Baby I love your way.”
But one that catches me singing along every time, is this one:
And what’s wrong with that? I need to know? Cause here I go …. again ….
What song(s) take you back?
P.S. Did Linda have a gullet (girl-mullet)?
I can just picture you traveling the highways and byways singing this one!
Or in my office 🙂 MJ
Band on the Run totally takes me back to going out for pizza when we were at our summer cottage as a kid. The restaurant had a juke box, and we would put that song on. Days of fun, sailing, running around on the coast of Maine, and puttering around in rowboats. Love all the songs that take you back, as well.
That’s another great Wings’ song. I enjoyed your recollection of where that song took you 🙂 Hope your foot feels better every day!

I love gullets. Easy in the front, sexy long hair in the back. Sigh.
There’s nothing quite like a gullet, except a mullet of course. 🙂 MJ
Isn’t it amazing how a song can take you right back to a time and place?? We have an oldies channel on tv, and sometimes we’ll just stop on that channel and listen to the music. I love how I can be transported back to high school….or some other random time in my life….! And it always seems that the songs that were popular in the summertime are the best for doing that.
It is — a song can transport us to our first crush, first dance, first heartache. Youngest boy has been singing Bryan Adams “Summer of 69” lately; now that’s stuck in my head, too!
Cheers! MJ
There are a million songs that take me back. And then there is the one you got stuck in my head….
at least a million LOL!

I know what you mean. In the summer of ’83 I was head over heels in puppy love with my first girlfriend. Debarge had released their song “All This Love” and I thought that it described exactly the way I felt Over the summer she dumped me for my “best” friend…one week before my senior year.
I can’t hear it today without stopping and smiling, remembering that time in my life.
Oh Debarge, I forgot about them … and that song. That must have been a crushing end to that sweet summer story.
One of my first crushes dumped me and thought he was going to keep my Boston 8-track. No-siree-Bob. I summoned up the courage to ask for it back .. at a hockey game, no less! Yes, fearless, and yes, I still love Boston. “More than a feeling” – what a great song 🙂
Smiles to you, RR

Music always takes me back! Music and scents are the quickest and surest paths to memories that I know. And fortunately, most of the memories are good! Maybe that’s the selective part of the process…easiest to remember the good times and the great songs that went with them?! ~ Sheila
You make a great point about scents also evoking memories — Hey, that might be another post! 🙂

Okay, I may be a few days late getting here, but one thing’s for sure. That mullet definitely takes me back! Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!
Hugs,
Kathy
Gotta love the mullet! It was a great weekend *sigh* and I’m gearing up now for the Holiday – cheers! MJ
