I don’t hate my job at all. But this sure made me laugh:
So tonight, we’re not going to the bar. We’re going to our friend Lynette’s summer party. I wrote about her a little while ago, the 55-year-old trying to live with terminal cancer.
With that sobering news came talk of a bucket list. But her bucket list made me laugh because it didn’t reference sky-diving, travel or the like. Her bucket list included: Tom Selleck, Bruce Willis, and Kevin Costner. Huh? Yep, all the dreamy men she wished she’d-a-met. Oh how we roared over that list. That’s Lynette.
She’s that gal — the one who’s always the first to help, who brings food to neighbors, organizes parties, bus trips to the casino, and fundraisers for veterans. She’s bought baby gifts for girls who weren’t family and furnished the apartments of friends. When hubbs’ mom passed away, she showed up with coffee, beer, food and money. Money? “Trust me, you’re gonna have expenses you didn’t think about.” And we did.
Generous, yes you could say that. But also a ton of fun to be around. Direct. Smart. Funny and sharp as a tack.
She’s a wife, mother, sister, friend, neighbor and G-Ma.
She’s all of those things and more.
But most of all, she’s our friend, and tonight’s not just Friday night, it’s her night. And we’re gonna form our very own support group. At her bar.

Me & Lynette setting up the hall for my 50th bday party. She booked the hall and handled the decorating. Of course she did. That’s Lynette.
Happy Friday, peeps. Celebrate everyone in your life! Friday and every day.
Okay the quote at the top is hilarious! So, so funny!
Sorry to hear your friend has cancer, but she sounds like a hoot. Isn’t it wonderful to have friends? Enjoy your party tonight and have a great weekend.
Hugs from Ecuador,
Kathy
Love that quote – cracks me up!!
she is trying really hard to remain positive and have fun, about 200 people showed up last night. It was surreal

Oh MJ, I’m so sorry — your friend sounds like she’s handling it well.
If I were you, I’d try to contact those guys she wishes she met. A friend of mine met Kevin Costner, whom his wife adored. When Kevin asked to meet Shirlee, Steve said she was in the hospital. He called her and chatted for quite a while.
That’s a great idea, I may just do that. Thanks for the suggestion!
MJ
Sure thing.
Goodness gracious is that friend to the left 50? I see two beautiful friends from the inside out with gorgeous smiles. Have fun you two with everybody!
Thank you; you are too kind. We had a good time last night — great food, a live band, and about 200 people to mingle with. I know she got worn out but I also know she wouldn’t have it any other way!
MJ
Have a fantastic evening, MJ, Lynette must be a very special friend.
Much love,
Mar
She is a special friend, that’s for sure. Around 200 people showed up to party last night! She was right in the thick of all of it 🙂
MJ
I just betcha that Lynette feels the very same way about you, MJ! Enjoy the evening!
I think she just may; she has a lot of friends and I’m not the only one who appreciates all she’s brought to the party. She IS the party!
MJ
oh my…thank you for reminding me to honor my sweet friends. We truly would be lost without them. Sending positive, loving thoughts her way as well. Thanks MJ. Have a great one!
Thank you; those positive thoughts are welcomed!
MJ
Very happy birthday to Lynette! I hope you guys have a great time and revel in your great friendship.
Thank you; we had fun, a few tears, lots of laughs, and many “remember whens?” MJ
Lynette sounds like the kind of person who really knows how to live – even as she’s facing terminal cancer. What an inspiration! You’re lucky to have her in your life.
She’s someone I wish you could know and, yes, we’re lucky to have her! MJ
