Last night, I spent some time in our spare bedroom, otherwise known as “the workout room.” The one no one has been in lately, especially me.
I moved a few things aside and shook my head at most selections. But then I found it, an old favorite, a Yoga DVD.
My tired and stiff muscles screamed “no.” My head nodded and said “yes.”
30 Minutes later, I felt like a new person. Blood pumping, energized, relaxed and … joyful.
No one else was home so I fixed what I wanted for supper: bliss.
I talked and laughed on the phone with Mom, without interruption.
I puttered around the kitchen and enjoyed the crisp autumn air wafting in through the screens.
And it was then that it hit me,
“Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognize how good things really are.” ― Marianne Williamson
May today delight you as much as this Husky did me (see below)! Have a great day, peeps!
Just perfect, MJ! As I watched the video (and smiled), I thought how wonderful it would be if all animals had such a beautiful, huge, safe place in which to run and play! Guess that’s what it’s like on the other side of Rainbow Bridge.
(Gypsy was on my desk as I watched it. She certainly found it entertaining too.)
I’m glad you had such a wonderful evening…. chatting with your mom (sigh…)
You are spot on – –I picture Frankie racing around like that in Heaven 🙂
Yes, I had a great evening chatting with my Mom. She’s doing OK, made the decision to stay on the farm (which makes her smile) and she has lots of help from my sister, brother & sister in law :). Her hearing has declined so when you have a phone relationship most of the time, as we do, it lags a bit. But — all in all — she’s one tough cookie
Hugs! MJ
What a wonderful video! So free (just like you on that particular day). I love my husband but once in a while I love to be all alone, eat what I want and not worry about being considerate.
Absolutely – we all need some time to just “be.”
MJ
What a marvelous interlude for you.
It was — and it gave me perspective that I’d been lacking 🙂
Cheers to you, Linda!
MJ
what’s the name of the Yoga DVD if you don’t mind me asking. We’ve talked about doing some very basic stuff (I’ve never done it,and would love to start incorporating some of it into my life. Yep, the dog video also made me chuckle. Our lab will sometimes do laps like that when she wants to play.
here you go — it’s great and do-able for non-flexible folks like me http://www.gaiam.com/yoga-dvds/rodney-yee-am-pm-yoga-for-beginners/05-54142.html?start=3&cgid=3010200
That Husky cracked me up- especially when he stopped and all that was sticking out of the leaves was his head – so funny!
Bests! MJ
Looks like the Husky got a workout, as well. How delightful! Gotta show Sara this one!
Hugs from Ecuador,
Kathy
I know, so hilarious! Be sure to show Sara. Bests to you both 🙂 MJ
My oldest dog loves leaf piles. I would kill for a back yard that beautiful to let them romp and play…
Frankie like to lie in them but I never saw him jump 🙂 Yes, agreed, gorgeous back yard but, boy-oh-boy, that’s a lot of raking!! MJ
if i could afford that back yard i could afford a lawn crew – or at least a leaf blower!
Lovely post. My Son shared the husky clip with me yesterday. Loved it.
I love that Husky! He just makes me smile .. thanks David, MJ
How lovely that you had bliss for supper. Nothing is better than that. I just saw you over at Kathy’s blog and noticed you said you’re from Michigan. Where do you hail? We live in the Upper Peninsula, although we’re from downstate a long, long time ago.
Hi Kathy 🙂 I live in Grand Rapids but am from SK Canada originally. I love MI .. and da UP 🙂 MJ
As selfish as it sounds, I’m a strong believer in “me time”. I’m happy that you had some for yourself (don’t wait so long to do it again!!). 😉

Oh my. That’s a lot of leaves and the videographer doesn’t seem to mind.
When Rick goes to visit the deer every day, I’m glad he’s getting “me” time as am I just chillin’ at home. It’s nice.
It’s a tonne of leaves! 🙂 I know what you mean, “time at home” is just grand, MJ
My workout room – also known as the gym to which I pay monthly dues – has also been highly underutilized by me lately. I gave myself a little kick in the pants this week too. Good for you for listening to your body and doing something good for yourself. It sounds like a wonderful way to spend an evening.
And the video? Absolutely joyful! Love it!
Summer’s too busy and fun for me to spend it working out 🙂 Fall, I can manage – it’s cooler and I’m more interested in a workout then. Even got up Wed am and did the yoga routine before work – ahh! My next challenge is to find 3 x a week to do something I enjoy!
and that dog just cracked me up — there was one point, towards the start of the video when he just stops and only his head is sticking out of the leaves – Joyful beyond belief! Have a great Friday & weekend, my friend 🙂
MJ
This sounds heavenly! Now I want to take a yoga class.
Ah, I love this quote! Sounds like you had a great night! Always good to have some time for yourself! ~ Sheila
indeed!

Man, that’s some good stuff. Yesterday, while driving in pretty heavy traffic, I noticed that each light, as I came to it, turned green. I got a big smile on my face and said out loud…”life is good” It is!
Whee! Love the stream of green lights 🙂 MJ
