It’s coming: winter.
Today … rain. Tomorrow … freezing rain. And Friday … snow.
We know it.
We live here.
It’s not news, people.
But .. when it comes … we find ourselves in familiar commentary with friends and neighbors, “Cold enough for ya?” “Holy Dinah, it’s cold out there!”
So … it’s funny, you know, the things that snow and cold does to people.
Some embrace it.
Some need others to help them through it.
And some just go it alone.
Which one are you?

I’m the dog on the outside but the cat on the inside.
ha ha! Perfect, Sheryl 🙂 Just loved that cat, he cracked me up. MJ
Well, I dont mean to rub it in….but it’s supposed to be in the 70’s here tomorrow! I’ll be thinking about ya!
Nice! Enjoy … I really don’t mind the cold, I do mind the lack of sunshine here in the winter months – we’re close to Lake MI and that = cloud cover. I grew up in the sunniest spot in Canada, didn’t realize that everywhere wasn’t like that in winter till I’d lived elsewhere – duh!
MJ
I love snowstorms!! They were so much fun as a kid growing up on a farm. Huge snowdrifts. Bitter cold. No school!! As an adult (though some would debate that point) I am still in awe of God’s beauty through millions of little snowflakes.
Be safe and try making a snow angel for us! 😉
R
Me too, RR! I have never seen snow like I have in MI – it’s awe-inspiring, really!
I agree … growing up with snow and storms and being “storm-stayed” and missing school so we could go sledding – darn! I’m with you — a crisp, cold winter’s nights with the Heavens feeling like they’re within arm’s reach is a gift that should be experienced by all.
🙂 MJ
Yeah, I’m the one who isn’t in any of those… LOL. I avoid the cold like the plague! Need my sunshine and warm weather. Traveled to work this morning with the heater on in the car… it was 64 degrees 😀
You are so funny, Sandi! Hubbs is like you, after we’d lived in Texas for 10years, he swears his “blood thinned” out and is always cold. I have ~ahem~ a wee bit more insulation than he does so the cold doesn’t bother me as much … now summer? Lord have mercy!
Take care, you!
MJ
I totally get your hubbs! Anything below 70 is winter to me… especially after living in the middle east for 3 years!
I can imagine, Sandi 🙂 MJ
Cute!
Thanks Nolagirl!
MJ
I love a good blizzard 🙂 90% of my work seems to be outside so I’ve learned how to dress for it. Keep my feet dry, carry, extra gloves, loose fitting, multiple layers, and lots of coffee. I have noticed the overcast weather does make a difference. We have the same issue here in Iowa.
You are obviously well-experienced, DM!
There’s nothing like a good blizzard, especially if you’re tucked in safely inside. I’m not a big fan of the icy stuff … but the snow? Bring it on 🙂
Have a great day!
MJ
Those pictures! The most we get here is low 40s weather at night, so I miss out on this experience save through reading it about it. Li’l D hopes to see snow this year, so we’ll probably go skiing. Well, he and Daddy will go skiing, anyway! 🙂
The 2 Malamutes cracked me up …. MN and WI are supposed to get -40 winds today. I grew up in Saskatchewan, Canada and school was rarely cancelled because of snowfall, more often b/c of extreme temps — i.e. “The bus isn’t coming b/c Elliott the bus driver can’t get it started!” It was -45F actual temp that morning … Dad was up early to defrost the water bowls for the cows!
Bests! MJ
Like the presentation. The fox and I have too much in common.
And the fox is so cute 🙂 MJ
I’m definitely the cat but my husband is the pup in the third picture patting me on the head. It was 46 when I went to bed last night, this morning 21 and WINDY (in WI).
That’s funny stuff! I see that WI is dipping into the deep freeze, and we’re due for it this w/e — brr. Time to bundle up and stay cozy! Good to hear from you again 🙂 MJ
I seem to get a kick out of the winter weather for the first little while. Somewhere around February, the lack of sunshine will start to drag me down though.
I seem to go it alone. I usually have fun with it… sometimes suffering through it… always grateful for any source of warmth at the end of the day.

I try to have fun with it, too … but today it’s bitter and blowing snow .. so I will be one with my heater LOL!
