Musings on a Monday

Well, here we are.   The night before .. the night before Christmas.

All is calm, all is bright. OK, for the most part :).

Hubbs is happily on vacation already but I’m not until tomorrow afternoon; the boys will be finished with work mid-day, and the wee ones … well the wee ones are SPENDING THE NIGHT!

And you need to know .. that right there – THAT– is my Christmas gift.

Don’t need a present. Don’t need the tree. Just need my peeps, here with me.

The wrapping’s done, the fridge is stocked.   Whatever we don’t have, well, we won’t be shocked.

We’re  gonna sniggle in and snuggle up, play cards and laugh, sing Christmas carols and say prayers and watch for red noses and roll — roll in the fact that we’re together – thankfully – again.  It’s been a tough year in many ways; a year of growth and a year of losses, too. But, more than anything, there’s gratitude.

Gratitude for the most precious of gifts:  a babe in a manger, bringing hope to the world.

Gratitude for family and comfort, traditions and joy.

And good friends who will be missed by all.

    • Can’t. Wait!

    • Thank you, Marsha. Came across his stocking when it came time to decorate… and there’s still a big bare spot where his bed used to be. He’s missed every day. One of these days we’ll take the plunge and get another furry friend but not yet. Merry Christmas to you, my friend!

  5. My heart is with you….big hugs….it is so special that you have your peeps with you:) Love you MJ

    • I agree! Don’t need anything more :). As an added bonus, there’s more snow in the forecast … perfect for reindeer-watching!

      Merry Christmas, HRCG 🙂 MJ

      • Merry Christmas to you too:) More snow sounds heavenly:) I love it….our snow melted here and today is clear blue sky, about 45 degrees….I like snow for Christmas….so I am pouting a bit but I was able to get out and take some pictures so that made up for it:) Snuggle down, snuggle in and God Bless:)

      • it snowed all night, and all of Christmas day. The yard looks like it’s been dipped in buttercream frosting 🙂

  6. Wonderful post MJ and a touching close with Frankie. Merry Christmas.

  7. Even I, who did not know him personally, got a lump when I saw Frankie. The holidays make any loss more painful. Thankfully you have some wonderful family that will make it fun and rich. And yes, in due time, please get another furry friend.

    • I agree .. the holidays seem to make us feel the pinch just a wee bit more.
The kids are on their way RIGHT NOW 🙂 Whoop!
      Merry Christmas to you,
      MJ

  8. Merry Christmas to you and your family, MJ.

  10. Hey, so glad you’ve had a chance to enjoy your little ones too! That’s the sweetest part of Christmas…just not the same without little kids in the mix! ~ Sheila

  11. Great…and simple yet meaningful…post, MJ. Hope you had a very merry Christmas.

  12. Sorry I’m so late to this. You truly know how to revel in your blessings. Those grandkids are adorable, and I can tell by the smiles on their faces that they know just how very much they are loved by you.

    • They really are delightful. We had such big fun with them and the joy in their little faces was palpable 🙂 Treasured memories now, for sure
