HA!
It’s been a crazy, busy week. My work world has cranked up and is back to full speed ahead; we’re working on projects and on lots of conference calls, doors are shut, heaters are on, lunches are packed from home. I’m leaving earlier, staying later, and sometimes .. working here because of weather. But always, always, always bundling up and slogging through because … well, it’s winter.
But you know what? I see the weekend … whoop! And today, on my lunch break, the first one I’ve taken this week, I’m slipping off to my favorite local bookstore. Can’t wait … I’m taking a stack of gently used books with me to sell back, adding that nominal amount to my Christmas gift card and treating myself to yet another round of literary delights. As an added bonus, this store has a charming little cafe serving delicious quiches, salad, soups and more. I’m feeling rather impish, just thinking about it! It’s the little things sometimes, isn’t it?
What’s your Random 5-January edition look like? Anything you’re feeling Yippee Skippy about? 🙂
Aw….yippee skippy: that’s a new one on me, but I like it! Your little bookstore sounds just wonderful. I think it’s neat that you’re so looking forward to it!
Happy Friday! Happy Weekend! Happy Book Shopping!
It’s catchy and yet so descriptive 🙂 The bookstore was wonderful; I forgot that they don’t start book buy-backs until after 1, and I arrived just after 12. I shopped, bought my lunch and left – and now I have a reason to make another trip 🙂 MJ
I am most definitely feeling “Yippy” because I am over the most wicked fast moving flu bug I can remember having. Enjoy your time @ the book store. You have earned. it!
I’m sorry to hear you’ve been ill .. but glad to know it’s not lingering. Take it easy, though, so it doesn’t come back for a visit. I enjoyed the bookstore .. and left with a skip in my step 🙂
MJ
We had one of those bookstores where you bought a book cheap and than could give it back and get credit. Sadly it closed it’s doors after less than a year. Your random 5 pretty much works here too.
This one is thriving; I drive right by the big national chain to go to this one instead 🙂 Happy weekend, Kate!
MJ
Yikes! It DOES look cold there. I’m yippee-skippie cause my nephew is coming to visit in just 10 days! Can’t wait!
Hugs from Ecuador,
Kathy
That is very exciting; how fun for you all!! Bests, MJ
Beautiful photos…and the little book store…I ‘m envious. Mine closed…the one I went to on Saturday a.m.
Have a “yippee” weekend.
I’m having a yippee weekend so far; it started to rain last night and big chunks of snow & ice are falling off of the house … the bad thing is that if the temps drop it will be a sheet of ice out there. I’m inside with my books today 🙂 Cheers! MJ
Love the little things – but your Friday posts are BIG.
aww, thanks David. Appreciate you visiting and your always kind words 🙂 MJ
Ah, that sounds like a perfect lunch break, and so well-deserved. Did you have a hard time leaving the bookstore and going back to work? I would!
My work days have been similar. Since our move to a suburb just about a year ago, I don’t have many options for fun places to escape when it’s cold. But when it’s been as cold as it has, I probably don’t want to go out anyway.
Hope your weekend is wonderfu!
It was probably a good thing that the book-buy-back desk wasn’t open yet b/c that gave me more time to shop. I did arrive with a list and I bought a few items from that + a few that just looked good. Can’t wait 🙂
It’s good to have things to look forward to and even more special if it’s during a work day – which doesn’t happen too often. Happy weekend!
MJ
Lots of snow up there! Brrr. Your little bookstore sounds delightful.
Yes and yes – it was delicious. I’m going back in a few weeks – whee!! MJ
