Random Five … Sunday

1. The sun was out yesterday – all day long.  It. Was. Glorious.   More than once, I found myself near the window, soaking up the warmth like a lizard on a lounge chair.   Ahh.

2. Today I’m off to meet our great-nephew and deliver some yummy foods to the weary parents.  TLC Chicken Spaghetti, Home-made soup, cheesy biscuits and Game Day (Heath Bar) Brownies.   This isn’t my first rodeo, and I know exactly what new parents need:  creamy, yummy, easy to warm up and a pop of chocolate at 3 a.m.  The neat thing? I’m bringing Hubbs’ Auntie with me so we will have 4 generations together and the little guy will meet his great auntie and his great-great auntie in the same day.

When the root is deep, there is no reason to fear the wind.

3.  Hubbs is headed to the golf show today with one of his best buds.  You would think they won the lotto as they are that excited.  Recently, he was awarded some extra $$ for his efforts at work and I suggested that since he did the work he should spend it on something he wants .. like golf.  Well,  it didn’t take long for golf show plans to come together.  The twinkle in his eye can be spotted from across the room. 🙂

4.  After the food delivery and the golf show delights, he & his buddy and me & buddy’s wife are meeting up for eats and greets today. NO cooking this Sunday, and that’s just fine with me.

5.  I don’t know if it’s getting older or just having a lot on my mind, but more often than not, I get the “here-afters.”  (I come into a room and wonder what I’m here after!)  Then I saw this cartoon and laughed out loud.  Yep, I can relate.  You?

a little bit too true sometimes!

Happy Sunday, peeps.

  1. “Here after’s”. Priceless. Gotta use that at work this week.

  2. Sounds like a sensational Sunday. Hey, if there’s too much snow on the ground to golf, a golf show is the next best thing.

    Hugs from Ecuador,
    Kathy

  3. Happy Sunday to you too, MJ!

  4. The sun was out for a good part of the day here today. Combined with the all day cooking I was doing, the house was wonderfully warm!

The food you made for the new parents will be happily received, I know. So generous of you to take care of their needs that way.

Oh, I get the “here-afters” SO often. That cartoon is hysterical and cracked me up!

    • You know I love a cozy day of cooking, especially on a Sunday – good for you!

The food was well received, the baby was beautiful, and the joy was palpable 🙂

Here-afters — and that cartoon — too funny indeed,

  5. Love your 5!!! Especially love the quote about roots, and jotted that down for future use. Years ago, when I shared with Marshall that his 9th great grandfather brought nearby property from Pocahontas’s son, I said: “You have DEEP roots, Son!”.
I’m a great great auntie to a 4-month old little boy, that hopefully I will get to meet in June.
    Your Sunday sounds just wonderful!

  6. Awwww…you made someone’s day in #2 and #3! We had beautiful weather on Sunday, too. Haven’t had a fire in the fireplace since last Wednesday.

    • It was fun and we had a wonderful visit; the weather was perfect and the snow arrived today — another 5″ and still coming down. I am sure kids will have a snow day tomorrow 🙂

      Bests to you, GS!
      MJ

  7. I so want hose brownies right now! Yum!

    • they are super easy to make — enlist Sophie to help you 🙂 They travel well and freeze beautifully, could have their own passport!

    #5…..too funny. i relate!!

  9. I’m only a week late getting here. Hopefully the snow will melt so your hubby can play golf. #5 happens way too often!

    • No worries! Just yesterday he saw some weather report about MI being cold through May .. he nearly had a meltdown. I think I saw a foot stomp. My response, “Good grief, they can’t predict the weekend weather and you’re gonna worry about 3 months from now???” He just smiled and walked away. (( been in the house too long, I think ))

      MJ

  10. Love the cartoon! And yay! – the light is coming back here in SE Alaska…staying light longer, and days are less dreary! Love the sunshine! ~ Sheila
