Two for Tuesday

Care to play along? On Tuesdays, pick a topic and segue into it!

I’ve been on a theme-kick lately for my blog and I know why.

Life. It’s busy.  Work – crazy.  Home – a steady dose of “to-do’s.”

I rarely have time to stop, let alone think.  It’s coming, I know, but it’s not here yet.  Example:  At work, my team is 80 days from the end of a year-long project but 100 from the start of another.  Deep breath!

So, with that, here’s my 2-for-Tuesday:

1. We waited until the peonies were in full bloom to scatter old dog’s ashes.

So now he’s in amongst the fleurs – because as a Ferdinand-dog, he liked to sniff them. He was sophisticated like that.  He’s also in the hedges and down along the patio where we grill, one of his all time favorite spots.   Chipmunks be warned, the gangsta is back!

Pet lovers will understand, others will think I’ve lost it, but having him with us is a source of comfort and yes, I still miss that silly old hound.

2.  Saw this the other day and instantly the song was in my head.  Does that ever happen to you?

Happy Tuesday, peeps! I’m off to the State Capital to hobb-knobb with the big dawgs :).

  1. I totally get it! What a lovely way to keep Frankie romping in the garden xoxo

    • I knew you would Sandi-girl! I worked out in the yard most of Sunday and I came across the areas where we’d left him and it made me smile to have him there with me and when I grilled later on 🙂

  2. What a fitting ending place for a wonderful pup!

  3. Love this…I understand perfectly why you would scatter Frankie’s ashes in your flower bed. Sweet that he’s still near and a part of your surroundings. And I also understand the busy cycle, and letting your writing self hibernate and percolate, waiting for the right time to make an appearance. I’ll look forward to reading what’s to come! ~ Sheila

    • Exactly; he was always happiest near us.

I’ve got a million ideas percolating (love that word 🙂 ) and, in time, they’ll pop to the surface like a beach ball in the pool!
      Cheers!

  4. I know that “life is busy right now feeling as well”. thanks for the update! I see another pattern in your life…l..ever consider being a lobbyist? 😉 DM

    • It’s summer -it’s “make hay while the sun shines” right? 🙂
I have done some lobbying in my life, and I do some now, but to do so full time? Not sure that would be for me 🙂
      MJ

      • Yea, I was only half serious on that lobbying idea..I think it would get old fast….but you are great with people so I I’m sure you are quite effective in communicating in whatever setting. DM

      • Thank you, DM. I try really hard to break things down and talk with, not at, people 😉 MJ

  5. Sorry to have missed this, MJ. I’m sure scattering Old Dog’s ashes was bittersweet for you, but what gorgeous peonies! And yes, it only takes a suggestion for a song to “be in my head”…. Enjoy your weekend; hope everything went well at the Capital!

    • Thank you Dianna. It was sad but necessary and we’re glad he’s out where he loved to mosey around 🙂

      Have a great day! MJ

  6. Love that you scattered Frankie’s ashes in the places he loved most. I totally get it. We have the ashes of a few pets too. And their paw prints. It still brings a tear when I look at those impressions.

    • absolutely — the grands were here yesterday and they both looked at the paw print and put their little hands on it. They need to see that, I think, as death is part of life. MJ

  7. Busy, yes…sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever get caught up! I understand about still having your buddy near, and songs that stick around in ones head for awhile.
