The Waiting

It’s official.  Summer’s here – just check the calendar!  🙂

Our pool is still cool, but our days are warming and summer, summer has returned.

cherries at the pool .. can’t wait!

The farmer’s market is open, cherries will soon be ready for picking at the Orchard up the road and me, I’m hungry for corn-on-the-cob.

I had a birthday Saturday.   It was a fun day spent answering the phone, opening cards and gifts, reading texts, laughing through Facebook posts ~  you name it ~ I felt spoiled and loved and had a wonderful time.   The festivities continue this week with lunch dates with friends & even more laughter.

When I was a girl, my birthday landed at the end of the school year so my party = summer. That usually translated to us kids running through the sprinkler, sipping an orange float, and enjoying a burnt hot dog with family and friends.

Summer makes me a little more carefree and a little less scheduled. In Summer I’m more likely to wear a skirt that twirls and a pair of kitten heels.

In Summer I let my natural curls air dry and wear the dangling earrings  – the ones that pick up the green in my eyes and set off a sun-kissed glow.

In Summer I’m more likely to get up early and stay up late, watching the stars dance in that forever sky.

Ah …. Summer.

Thank you for coming back to us again.   🙂

  4. Nothing wrong with the curls in a “forever sky”. Like the thoughts.

  5. I love summer! I love all those summer teenage songs we used to sing. I love the bright colors we painted on our nails. I loved having all day to do what I wanted to. Winter is just not the same.

    • I’m taking a road trip today and dug out some of my classic cds — I’ll sing my face off on my 2 hour drive to a meeting – yay!

Love having all day to do what you want – isn’t it grand? Ahh summer 🙂

  6. The burnt hot dog from the grill with a little mustard and relish! Hmmmmmm

  7. Happy late birthday to a fellow June-born gal! When I was a child, my favorite thing about summer was NO SCHOOL! Now, it’s flip flops…..no coats, hats, mittens…you get the idea. Enjoy your summer, MJ!

    • Oh that is for sure — nothing like that feeling of the last day of school, except maybe the first morning of summer 🙂 Whoop! MJ

  8. Its kind of fun to be the center of attention…sometimes, and for the right reasons!! 🙂 Happy belated birthday!!

    • It was … and the fun continues, had a birthday lunch yesterday with a girlfriend and more festivities this Friday 🙂 Whee!

  10. I love this quote! It really puts life into perspective, doesn’t it?! And I love summer too. Up here in SE Alaska we get the long summer days. Best time of the year this far north! Enjoy your delicious days! ~ Sheila

    • Yes and Yes! 🙂 this weekend was delicious. Our Grandson turned 9 yesterday so he and a buddy went with oldest boy (Dad) go-karting; I took little miss to the Zoo. Fun stuff – it was very sticky and hot but still – a grand day. Cheers!
