A Summer Saturday

Here we are at Saturday and, wow, what a week! I had Monday off, and that was a treat, but it was time with new friends and some new work experiences that made my week great. And our weather here is perfect!  Who can ask for anything more? Not me.

A couple of random thoughts this morning:

1.  The grand-kids are coming today!  Oldest boy and the kids + Grandpa and some other cousins and kids are coming over to swim and grill out.   Hubbs teases that I’ve made enough food for 40 but my intentions are clear: not cooking tomorrow :).

2. The songbirds are singing brightly this morning … and I saw my first Hummingbird of the summer last night.  I still wonder how such tiny birds migrate – amazing!

3.  Did I mention the grand kids are coming today?  🙂

3. Little MJ had to endure 5 stitches after an accidental bonk on the head recently.  I hope she packs her “Doc McStuffins” Doctor kit with her today.  Last time she and I played with it, I ended up with 8 shots and 5 band-aids.  But her kisses made Nana’s pretend “injury” all better.  I hope to do the same for her real one.

4. I had lunch with Lynette’s cousin Wednesday – and we had a wonderful time.  Even if the food hadn’t been good and our conversation so easy, who could argue with a view like this?  Ahh – Summer in Michigan – you just can’t beat it.

5.  Lastly … saw this video this week and immediately thought of my blogging buddy Dianna over at “These Days of Mine.”  She often has deer in her yard and I know she will love this clip!

Happy Saturday, peeps!   Whatcha up to today?

  1. Looks like a perfect week to me!

  2. Aw…thanks for the mention, MJ. I had seen that video on FB this week: so sweet! Looks like you will have a wonderful weekend to follow your nice week. I, too, saw my first hummingbird a day or two ago; I was so excited! Sorry about little MJ’s boo-boo.
    Have fun, MJ!

    • wasn’t that little deer just so sweet & tiny? Aww … Little MJ is doing better and she assured me the Nana kisses helped 🙂

  3. What a sweet video! I’m so glad they were aware the fawn had fallen in there. Your grands look like they’ve grown so much. The pool looks inviting, and yay for your hummer! I think the same thing about Monarch butterflies, and the trip they make every year. As for today, I’m procrastinating outdoor jobs, but it’s cooled down and there’s a nice breeze now, so it looks more inviting. Enjoy your family time!

    • Thank you – yes they are continuing to grow 🙂 and the weekend was very fun .. back at it now .. enjoy your day!

  4. HAHA!!! Your #1…we cook enough for leftovers too!! (If its good for one meal it oughta be good to two!! (or three)

    • I had the best intentions but the family decimated them — there was not much left over 🙂 I cooked again Sunday!! Cheers~! MJ

  5. Have a fantastic day tomorrow! Love the video. We have a lot of deer around here too.

  6. Aw, the video tugged at my heartstrings! Sweet!

Sounds like you had an amazing Saturday ahead of you. I hope the weather was perfect and everyone had fun. I don’t have to ask if they got enough to eat! 🙂

    • I agree, loved that wee baby being rescued 🙂
It was a fun day – rained most of the day so we were inside more than out – but, based on how late everyone stayed, they all had fun 🙂

  7. Cute grandkids and a great week! 🙂
