It’s Friday! It’s Random! Let’s Go!
1. Perusing old pictures recently, I found a few snaps taken inside the schoolhouse Dad attended as a boy. In later years, that building was moved a half mile to Grampa’s farm and used as a “shop” (*garage). I find it beautiful that, 70-some years later, the blackboard and cursive writing are still there.
2. Mom’s birthday was yesterday. Smiling as we talked, I loved hearing how excited she is about her two sisters visiting soon. When I commented that they’ll be having a “sleepover” she giggled and agreed. Sisters and sleepovers go together whether you’re 8 or 84.

One of my favorite pictures of Mom & me… having a Killian’s in Branson, MO. An Emjayandthem (C) photo
3. Remember Jerry, the relative I haven’t yet met but blogged about? He came home from the hospital yesterday :).
“Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the One who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference. -Max Lucado
4. A newer friend asked me along to an outdoor concert this week. “Yes” I said. “Sounds fun,” I said. And it was. Keb Mo played some funky fun blues and when he gave us this song, “She just wants to dance,” well you gotta know we did.
5. I have a few crowns. Some of them need to be replaced. Sigh – I know what that means… time in the chair and no $$ to spare. But this cartoon made me laugh.
And how was your week?
*This is my 700th post in nearly 4 years of blogging. My how time flies!
How cute is that your mom having a sleepover with her sisters. Happy Birthday to your mom.
Tell the dentist to make that a crown with jewels in it.
And – her brother & family are coming to see her in October 🙂 she’s got a full lineup of visitors planned! MJ
Love the song! I hate dental work. I need a couple of veneers replaced. Yowsa! They are twice what the originals cost. I have a fortune in my mouth! Love the picture of your Mom. My mother had the occasional beer until she died! Sickness wasn’t going to keep her down.
I have a fortune in there, too! That’s one of my favorite pictures of Mom; my sister & I took her to Branson, MO for her 77th birthday and we had a blast together. She enjoys having a (*as in one) drink with us and she’s always game for good conversation.
Loving the song and I downloaded some Keb Mo yesterday – whee! MJ
700 BLOGS?! I look forward to the next 700 as much as I did the first 700. Dead serious…I AM!!
Glad to hear about your uncle Jerry. People like him are touchstones to a better place, a better attitude and a better heart. Thank you for sharing him with us.
700! In my early days of blogging I blogged every day – EVERY day! It was lunacy, and I soon got over that.
Jerry is home and posting again on Facebook – everyone is happy to have him back 🙂 Thanks for your kind words,
MJ
I love that photo of your mom! She looks like such a sweet woman. Happy birthday to her!
And congrats on 700 posts! WOW. I just checked and I’m still haven’t hit 300 yet.
She’s sweet and smart and funny and fun — one of my favorite people for sure!
700 crept up on me!
MJ
Crowns. Necessary. And so expensive…Been there MJ. Congrats on #700 and 4 years.
Yeah I have lost count of how many I have … but I guess it beats the alternative!
Thanks for your kind words 🙂 MJ
Congrats on 700!!! Love your randoms. Such a neat old chalkboard!
A belated Happy Birthday to your sweet mom; so happy that she’s looking forward to her sisters coming for a sleepover!
I, too, went to the dentist today, but “just” for a filling. The novacaine has almost worn off….4 hours later. I’m hoping I can eat dinner.
Have a great weekend!
I knew you would love that old blackboard, Dianna 🙂 Mom had a good birthday and lots of calls and visits – out for supper with my brother & his wife and today she’s off to a play/supper with my sister. She’s got the birthday week going on!!
Hopefully your dental discomfort was minimal LOL — it’s something I’m glad I can afford to do (sort of) but wish I didn’t have to!
Thanks for your kind words! MJ
Congrats on the 700 mark!!! Your mom is precious and reminds me of my mom. Good news that Jerry is out of the hospital! I hope he is on his way to wellness. 🙂
Thank you; she’s one of a kind, that’s for sure!
Jerry is back on Facebook and humoring us with his commentary and humbling us with his observations, too. Have a great day Sandi! MJ
Congrats on the posting milestone. My week??? Interesting to say the least – in fact the summer has been…well bizarre. Let’s just say i’m sitting in a houseful of boxes and the moving van arrives Friday. The issue is…i have nowhere to move to yet. Long story – i need to post it… Hope you’ve had a good summer – and that ur Mom has a good sleepover.
So you sold your house and???
Do tell Mr. Coop!
MJ
LOVE the old chalkboard. I wonder if schools even use them anymore. I’ll bet they use whiteboards instead…. Or is that a thing of the past already too? Geeze, I feel old all of a sudden.
Happy belated birthday to your mom!
Keb Mo is fun. Saw him in concert with Bonnie Raitt one time.
I love that old Chalkboard, too — I think some are used but mostly whiteboards and iPads!! Yes I feel old, too 🙂
Mum Had a great birthday and yes Keb Mo is fun in concert – good times – MJ
Congrats on 700, MJ! I feel like I’m that many behind in reading. 😦 I love the “crown” comic. At the price we pay, we should get one studded with gems to wear on our heads. I’m glad to see the chalkboard and writing are intact. And can’t help but giggle at the thought of that slumber party–I imagine there’ll be a lot of giggling there, too.
Thank you 🙂 That crown cartoon made me giggle, too. She’s really excited about her sleepover and already baking and freezing special treats to have later on!! Cheers! MJ
