It’s Friday! It’s Random! Let’s go!
1. I don’t know about you but it kind of felt like July left and September came early. I was at the Capitol yesterday and could have sworn it was mid-September .. look at that sky!
2. Speaking of August, guess what’s ready at the Orchard down the road? Guess what I’m making this weekend?

I like to bake & take (i.e. take it somewhere else!) Peach Blackberry Cobbler is going a Labor Day gathering … an Emjayandthem (C) photo
3. Remember me talking about the Nutribullet? I’m still using it – daily! If you want a daily blast of nutrition and energy, check it out. My new favorite morning smoothie recipe is 1/2 spinach + blueberries, cantaloupe, strawberries, chia, flaxseeds, cinnamon, fresh ginger and almond milk. Creamy, a bit spicy and delicious. Keeps me full till early afternoon and I swear I’m healthier. We’ll see come cold & flu season.
4. I’m lucky I work with a lot of capable and talented people and, for the most part, I’ve successfully removed any energy vampires from my life. But this is still good advice, don’t you think?
5. Late last week, I noticed some activity along the back fence. In the late day sun, I spotted a Momma cat lounging and two of her youngsters tumbling and rolling down the hill. Cats! And wild cats at that. I think Frankie would have made friends with them and can picture them all lying in a pile together. No I’m not taming them and no I didn’t put food out, either. Don’t really need a yard full of skunks and raccoons!
Speaking of cats, this made me laugh — here’s # 6 for a Random 5 Friday. Happy day, all!
Always love the Friday 5 esp the energy vampires and quote
Thank you 🙂 Happy Saturday morning to you! MJ
You’re so right about it feeling like September! Our humidity returned yesterday, but we had several days of cooler temps and low humidity! Love the kitties in the box and the caption! Happy Weekend!
I thought of you when I saw the kitties in the backyard and in that box – too cute! MJ
#2 looks scrumptious and #3 with spinach intrigues me. I just might give it a try.
Happy long weekend to you!
They’re both fabulous 🙂 I love my daily smoothie ~ give it a go .. there’s a great recipe site on FB too 🙂 MJ
And where is this Labor Day gathering? That looks soooo good! This summer was a crazy one weather-wise. We had a few days that were really warm but hardly ever hit 90 degrees. Hope it’s a long mild fall.
C’mon over 🙂 I should post a before & after picture of the cobbler .. it never lasts long .. 🙂
Happy Saturday! MJ
I’d love to have a box of kittens delivered to my door! I might regret it eventually…That is a gorgeous blue sky; Yum, we’ve been getting fresh peaches, too; I’ll have to try that recipe.
I would as well – but only for a day or two. Hubbs is super allergic to cats 😦
I am preparing the cobbler this morning — just peel your peaches, toss with some sugar and cinnamon then stir in black or blueberries + crumbled frozen pie dough. Pour into a baking pan and dot with 1/2 stick of butter – bake in a hot over till golden. That’s it. The juices in the fruit + the bit of sugar/butter make the “sauce” and the dough does its own thing. Delish!

That first picture really does look like a September sky. It reminds me how much I really love the fall months. I’m looking forward to leaves changing color, cooler temps, pumpkins and apples!
Fresh peaches… now there’s something we don’t get much of around here. They look so good!
I remember when you first posted about the Nutri-Bullet. This reminds me that I was intrigued, but I never did look into one for myself. Maybe soon…
We have a lot of feral cats in our area, but none of them venture into our yard. I think Lucy Pie would chase them away, just like she does the squirrels.
I. Love. Fall! It’s my favorite season 🙂
Ended up making a peach/blueberry cobbler … it was soon demolished – ha!
That Nutri-bullet is the bomb and I use it everyday .. about to make another smoothie here shortly .. I’ve lost 5 lbs without much effort 🙂
On the cats… I am not sure what to do with that but I haven’t fed them or encouraged them b/c … we’d just have MORE of them!
