The beautiful moment after the door closes

“Have you ever heard the wonderful silence just before the dawn?  Or the quiet and calm just as a storm ends? Or perhaps you know the silence when you haven’t the answer to a question you’ve been asked, or the hush of a country road at night, or the expectant pause of a room full of people when someone is just about to speak, or, most beautiful of all, the moment after the door closes and you’re alone in the whole house? Each one is different, you know, and all very beautiful if you listen carefully.”
― Norton Juster, The Phantom Tollbooth

That beautiful moment after the door closes is here and today feels like it is mine, all mine.

  1. I love when I am home alone for several hours. Sometimes I dance and sing and sometimes I just do what I would normally do but it’s different. I am always glad when my husband returns but I do enjoy that alone time.

  2. Hey, I know just how you feel! Some days it’s good to have the stillness and quiet of being home alone. Hope it’s restful, or productive, or whatever you need it to be! ~ Sheila

  3. Wow! What a beautiful fall picture. Our maples are just beginning to change.
As my mom used to say: I’m content with my own company, too!

    • Thank you .. just down the road from my home 🙂 I’ve learned to be; I used to fill up each day and I no longer do that … ahh!

  4. Yes! You have brought home all the beautiful moments we should cherish in a lifetime. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

  5. Gorgeous color, gorgeous tree. Absolutely, I love it when I drive through the gates, walk in the door and close the door.

    • yes! Those sunny days with the sunbeams shining in and I’m alone with my thoughts and meanderings are just perfection 🙂 MJ

  6. Glad you enjoyed some much needed you-time!

  7. What a lovely tree and matching carpet underneath. Enjoy your moment of quiet!
