Share a Sunday

share sundaySaw this and laughed out loud.   🙂

What a fun weekend we’ve had ~ watching College Football with friends yesterday, we sampled a Chili cook-off and yummy snacks at our local American Legion Hall. We bought 50:50 tickets in support of cute young Marines who were there raising money for “Toys for Tots.” And, we even got up the courage to Karaoke!

When I took the microphone to sing a Patsy Cline favorite, I flashed-forward to my speaking engagement later this week. I realized then that if I can sing in front of 70 friends and strangers Lord knows I can talk to 400.

Here’s the song I chose; if you’re ever find yourself about to sing at a local Legion Hall, you’re well advised to pick a country or rock classic.  This song drew dancers to the floor and some chair singers, too.

Happy Sunday, peeps! When’s the last time you pushed yourself to try something new?

  1. Sounds like a great weekend! Thanks for the music.

  2. When’s the last time I pushed myself to try something new? Why, this very month, when I agreed to an interview with the online site TreeHouse: An Exhibition of the Arts. They not only wanted an interview, they wanted a photo and a bio. Was I ready to go so public? I decided to do it. It was great fun, and a great exercise for me to think through the answers to their questions.

If you’d like, the interview is here.

  3. and I bet you sounded just like Patsy Cline too! This is a shoulder swaying song for sure! BTW once you’re retired Mondays aren’t so bad. In fact it’s a much better time to grocery shop.

    • I doubt that, but I wasn’t screechy and everyone seemed to have a good time and sing along – and that’s the main thing with Karaoke – it’s a group experience 🙂 MJ

  4. And you sing too? You’ll wow them, I’m sure. Have a wonderful week.

    • I love to sing and do so every day; I just don’t do it regularly before an audience anymore (I sang in a band in college .. ) It was a blast and sometimes just you just have to close your eyes and go for it!

  5. I would have LOVED to see a video of YOU singing that song!!

    • Aww, thanks! It was a blast .. That’s a good song for me, right in my range. I think half of the Karaoke experience is picking something that suits you .. not just what ppl want to hear 🙂 MJ

  6. You are truly a star! Wish I could have been there to hear you belt out that Patsy Cline favorite. I’ve never done such a thing, but Bill did, in Japan. He sang “Oh My Papa.” Must have been awful. 🙂

    • It was fun and I highly recommend it ~ there were some regulars there who are very good and professional and then there were the rest of us. It’s was a great experience and I’d do it again!

  7. I love Patsy Cline. Thanks for sharing that song with us all. She has the best voice! And happy Sunday to you MJ!

  8. If I sang, folks would be out of their chairs, all right–and headed for the door! Good for you, would loved to have heard your version of Patsy Cline’s song.

  9. I love Patsy Cline’s music…thanks for sharing with us.
