It’s Friday! It’s time for 5 Random thoughts! Here we go!
1. Remember last Friday when I referenced how pitiful Hubbs was with his cold? Yeah, I should not have done that. About noon it hit me – a tightening between the shoulder blades – and with hot eyes and hurting everything, I headed for home. Not before I stopped for essentials like groceries, Puffs and dinner. And yes I felt the wheels of the Karma bus back right on over me.
2. Sorting through some stuff lately, I came across my hot rollers. Bear in mind I have naturally curly hair. Like, really curly. Holds a curl for days. I’ve had the rollers since college, they still work, and every once in a while I’ll roll my hair just to see what happens. If I’m feeling adventurous I’ll add hair spray and double it in size. I can see myself doing this for years and years and years. No idea why.
3. Lately I’ve been enjoying TV shows that demonstrate decorating on a budget. You see I have no ability in the home decor department. That gene skipped me. No, I was too busy riding my pony and pretending to be “Billy Jack“ than be caught inside doing artsy stuff. So it was not a proud moment when I realized that most of the things we own are on Decorators “do not do” list. Yep, decorating wise, I need help and lots of it.
4. I like making lists and checking things off so, generally speaking, I don’t procrastinate. But this was funny!
5. All in all, it was a bit of a rough week and I’m glad Friday is here. None of us felt great, it was -something zero outside every day and we got pounded with snow. Case in point, one day it took 65 min. to drive 7 miles to the office. No snowmen yet, but I can see why things like this could happen:
And how was your week? What styling aids have you owned or used for 30+ years? Please tell me you have silk plants, too!
No silk plants here, they get too dusty. I have rollers with brushes that stay in without pins. I just looked at them and thought I should throw them out. Haven’t used since I don’t remember but there they are taking up room in my bathroom drawer. I love 80s hair. I think it was easier than this flatter look that takes me far longer to pull off. You were (and are) a stunner! Love that clip. I know that feeling.
I used the rollers last night and, since my hair isn’t as layered now, the curls were off the chain! I can’t do flat — only in CO where there’s 0 humidity – then my hairs lies down & behaves.
We haven’t punched any snowmen yet but I can relate to that poor lady 🙂
Thank you for your kind words ~ MJ
What a great video: I had a feeling I knew where that was going….
No, dear, no silk plants. But I do have a few dead REAL ones, if that helps any!
Stay warm and safe in all that bad weather. Hope you’re feeling better.
It was hilarious and so relatable 🙂
My real plants all died — apparently they couldn’t take my “drown or drought” program ~ and I’m on the mend – whee! MJ
I still like hot rollers, MJ. It’s a curly hair thing which I know you understand.
You know? I do understand. For me it gives the curls a sense of direction – kind of 🙂
MJ
I love your rockin the 80’s hairdo MJ! I still love hot rollers too. But re interior decor – if I did have silk plants I can guarantee they will die. I had a plastic rubber plant that slowly lost its leaves. True. There is one plastic palm here that looks real but I keep waiting for its demise. 🙂
You and I are kindred sisters with respect to decorating and plants 🙂 Those 80s hairdos were something else, weren’t they? MJ
Sorry to hear that you caught the cold. I’ve already paid my dues in that department this season, but I’m grateful it was a fairly mild bout.
I’m so jealous of your naturally curly hair. Mine has always been stick-straight and I have to fight hard to give it some volume. From the time I was in 5th grade, I’ve NEVER been without hairspray. Maybe I should give the hot-rollers a try! 🙂 But who has time?
I’m hit or miss in the decorating department. Decor styles and fashions change just like clothing does, and it’s a lot to keep up with. I guess ultimately, I prefer to spend my time enjoying life rather than creating a showcase inside my house. Most of my friends and relatives could care less anyway. I always remind myself that people visit to see us, not our house.
I’m also hit or miss in the procrastination department. I might be super diligent and organized in some areas. Others? I put off and decide that I “work well under pressure.” What does this say about me, I wonder?
We’ve had plenty of cold and some snow… but nothing like what you got. Hang in there!
It has been a week and I can finally say I’m feeling better … whew!
My sister have stick straight hair and I was always jealous of THEM 🙂
Decorating – I love the look of certain things but have no idea how to pull it off ~ like you, I just don’t take the time to do anything about it. Painting the office a mushroom grey color a few years ago was a real departure for me 🙂
Happy Winter, Terri! 🙂 MJ
Take care. So sorry you caught that aching feeling.
Your rollers look like mine circa around the same date. Love your 80’s look, in fact you would have made a great addition to Charlie’s Angels.
Decorating? I turn to daughter #2 for help. She wanted to be a decorator but I made her get a teaching degree which thankfully, she loves.
I pulled out the rollers yesterday just for grins — my hair was large & in charge last night =-ha!
When we get ready to sell our house I think we’ll have to get a stager or decorator in for some tips — it’s just not my forte 🙂 MJ
I had a feeling the snowman was going to get it! LOL Hope you and hubbs are all better now. I don’t do much decorating. The neighbor does enough for all of us. I also have curly hair, but haven’t used hot rollers. I’m so thankful for the options we have now–hand-held blow dryers, flat irons, hair styling products. I loved the 80s hair.
Me too 🙂 We are on the mend but both have had lingering colds – boo! I think the hot rollers direct the curls, at least they do for me. The key is not leaving them in too long or I end up with Shirley Temple-like curls!! MJ
Yes, i can imagine! Boing!
