It’s Friday. Thank goodness! And with that, here are my 5 Random thoughts :).
1. Why is it that a full work week after just a few days off feels like the longest week ever? It’s like we jammed 10 lbs of potatoes into a 2lb sack, not kidding. Long days, lots of meetings and trips coupled with all the “to-dos” of this time of year left me reeling.
2. Text reminders. It’s the end of the year so I’m jamming in Doctor and Dentist appointments while I can. Now I receive multiple text messages to confirm my appointments and to remind me of my appointments, too. All so I can arrive early and wait for the Doctor or Dentist who is always … running behind. Maybe the office staff should text them. Grr.
3. Started Christmas shopping last Sunday and took today off to finish it. I’m hoping for an absence of crowds and looking forward to lunch with a good friend whom I rarely see. And if we run over and the shopping doesn’t get done today, so be it. 🙂
4. Speaking of Christmas we had our office Holiday luncheon yesterday ~ about 20 of us went to one of those Hibachi restaurants where the chef cooks in front of you and tosses samples your way. The food was delicious, the camaraderie was great but I’m not a seal and this girl is not diving for broccoli.
5. Reading the above, I’m sounding snarky. One of my employees recently introduced me to Willy Chirino, a Cuban-born entertainer who covers The Beatles with a Salsa-funk sound. It was a great reminder that no matter the day, all we need is love.
Nice, smooth adaptation of the Beatles. Thank you for the introduction.
Ha…”not diving for broccoli” made me laugh. You reminded me I haven’t been at one of those restaurants in a long time. Have a great weekend.
it was a lot of fun (the restaurant) but I am not a fan of diving for food – by anyone. I’m digging the new tunes, I found him on Pandora and had his music playing while cooking the other night – fun fun!

I’m also having lunch with a friend today!!! (You and I will be virtually lunching with friends!)
Can’t say I blame you for not diving for broccoli…..?
And I guess we all feel a bit like that poor chicken sometimes.
Good for your being almost done with your shopping! Enjoy your weekend, MJ.
I finished the shopping by 11:00 a.m. AND had a 2 1/2 hour lunch with my buddy 🙂 whee!! I think just that alone means my feathers are coming back — ha! MJ
My shopping isn’t done either. Haven’t come up with something for my husband. I am threatening him with a Starbucks gift card (he doesn’t like SB). As for those hibachi joints, Love the food, hate the show aspect. Don’t like grease on my clothing and I always smell like a grease pit coming out of there.
Finished the shopping yesterday ~ in a day or so, when I’ve regrouped, I’ll start wrapping. Thank goodness for gift bags 🙂
I’m with you on the grease pit smell – not a fan of that on my nice wool coat – blech!

Lunch with friends and gift shopping – you may think you sound “snarky” but you are actually in the spirit of things MJ. In fact, you inspired me and I actually baked Mondos today. I was terrified I did something wrong since the dough was so stiff I was afraid it wouldn’t hold more flour. But it all came together and the cookies are DELICIOUS! Thank you! Now I’m in the spirit too. 🙂 P.S. I doubled he recipe!
Truth be told I had the BEST time — it was the right idea to have the day off and not try to jam that task in with everything else. I tried out the toys, sampled goodies at one store, lingered at others, marched through a few and then had a wonderful lunch and great laughs with my friend = perfection!
So glad you loved the cookies – you make a great point, I should have warned ppl about the stiff dough — but I think that’s what makes them hold up so well ~~ So pleased you enjoyed the recipe AND found some Christmas spirit, too!! Cheers! MJ
Was it EVER a long week! I spent all day Thursday feeling like it was Friday. Then I had to get up the next morning and do Friday all over again! But I made it too. 🙂
Haven’t even started my Christmas shopping yet. I suppose I should dig in. Just haven’t had a few spare hours over the past week to do it.
Love the Willy Chirino sound. Thanks for sharing your new find!
It was a crazy long week – thank you for “getting” it — I feel your pain, sister!
The Christmas shopping is done and all presents are piled in the spare bedroom — in a few days I’ll start wrapping. One of my gifts to myself was the purchase of about 30 gift bags of all sizes – whee!
Willy Chirino’s music – impossible not to smile when listening to it, right? 🙂 MJ
Good for you that your shopping is done. I haven’t started mine, and don’t know what I’ll manage…not a year that I’m in the mood for holidays. However, I’m trying to end the pity party I’ve been throwing for myself and look for other ways to celebrate what is real and meaningful. You’re always a good reminder of those values!
Love the photo! Chicken? / Rooster? I don’t know which, but it’s perfect! I think I’ve seen that image in my mirror a few times recently! Time for a redo! ~ Sheila
I didn’t think I was in the mood, either, but once I started I found the Christmas spirit found me 🙂
I think that’s a rooster in the photo – what I love is that, despite being pecked and bloodied, he’s still working quite a strut – ha! MJ
Had to laugh at #2–the office staff should text the doctor–great idea! I think we’ve finished the bulk of our shopping this weekend, after getting a late start.
yay for you! MJ
