It’s Friday! Here are 5 randoms from my week:
1. It’s cold. Bitter cold. Freeze your nose, cold. And as Mom always said, “a good day for a house.” The winds are howling, the snow is blowing, and I am happy to not have to be any where but here.
2. New Year’s brings resolutions and with it comes Facebook friends posting updates on newly adopted exercise routines. Saw this and laughed out loud.
3. I’ve learned something else being home the past two weeks: I barely eat. Yes, without stress and chaos, I don’t graze and rarely feel hungry. I’m leaning into it and, when hunger appears, I eat. Nutribullet at least once a day. Other than that? Not much. Interesting the toll a steady dose of stress takes on us and how quickly our bodies respond when treated with a little T.L.C. Hmm.
4. Yesterday, had he lived, would have been Elvis Presley’s 80th birthday. And had he lived, I’d still be swooning.
5. Saw this photo and I have just one question: how did they get this picture of me? 🙂
Happy Friday, folks.
So funny. Yesterday I bought an under the bed storage box. It was almost as tall as I am but I refused to use a cart. Instead I hauled it from the back of the store (why are they always at the very back?) to my car outside in the snowy slop. The punishment? I was at Target and there was no way I could also carry a Starbucks so I had to forego my treat. Bummer. I loved Elvis. Still do. Looked for him at Target yesterday but he wasn’t there. Must have just missed him! Love your R5!
I can see myself doing the same thing! Too bad you had to forgo your treat though.
Still love Elvis and always will 🙂 MJ
🙂 A “good day for a house.” I love that one! Funnnnny post and especially the overladen lady at the end. Reminds me of me too. Happy New Year! 🙂
Mom had a great way of instilling gratefulness in us kids – that’s just one of her many quips.

Tis like springtime in the Midwest….springtime in the Artic Circle!! Regardless of the temperature this is where my heart is. It confounds me whenever Midwesterners act surprised that its cold, snowy and windy in January and February. HELLO!? How long have you lived in Iowa? (I’ll surrender the soapbox to someone else now) 😉
Last night, with winds whipping the snow throughout the state and parts of it under a blizzard warning, I turned off the air purifier in our bedroom just so that I could hear the wind whistling through the oaks and make our home shudder against the assault. I did that so that it’d take me back to the farm…where high winds usually meant no school the next day with the roads covered with drifts of snow and a play day of romping through the creek banks and fields with our dog before returning back to the warmth of the house….a half-frozen rosy cheeked kid.
The only way I could eat a Nutribullet meal is if it’d grind up my salami, Co-Jack and maple-brown sugar ham sandwich. 🙂
Glad to hear that your break went well. Take care getting back after it…don’t lose that peace!

Rich I too love winters in Iowa. Good pair of carharts, boots, hooded sweat shirt, stocking hat and gloves and I’m good to go. when some of my fellow iowan facebook friends start whining about the weather, i block their comments in my facebook feed. 😉 last thing I want to do is to listen to that stuff.
I know…right?! It’s called “winter” for a reason!! Damn Iowans!! 😉
Keep it real DM.

I checked my blog and last January 5th we were having COLDER temps 🙂
Nutribullet is great! It’s my favorite way to start the day – fruits, veggies and some chia seeds – it often looks like something Shrek would drink but tastes amazing and gives me tons of energy.
Headed back to work next week 🙂 MJ
Swooning over Elvis, yes, indeed! I grew up listening to his music (with my older sisters). Such a shame to lose him so soon.
I think most of us can identify with not wanting to make two trips? And just why is that so difficult?
Have a good weekend – glad you’re in, warm and safe!
I don’t know why we can’t make 2 trips; who are we trying to kid? But I still do it 🙂
Elvis = mmmm.

#5. Me too!
yep totally! MJ
Yep, we’re “enjoying” the extreme winter here too! 🙂
Saw that quote about workouts too and laughed out loud.
I know you’ve been using the Nutri-bullet for, what? A year or so now? I’m impressed to see you’re still diligently using it. I remember saying I thought I would check into it, but still haven’t. I find that when I’m at home, I graze and snack and eat even when I’m not hungry. Maybe it’s time to get serious about the Nutri-Bullet investment.
Sometimes the workout posts inspire me but often, not so much 🙂
I bought the Nutribullet last May and have used it nearly daily ever since. It’s my favorite easy way to get lots of fruits & veggies in me and helps me feel better. I love the energy I get from a protein/veggie/fruit shake first thing! I bought mine at BB&B b/c of the 20% off coupon ..

#2 LOL That’s a great pic of Elvis.
any picture of Elvis is a favorite of mine 🙂 MJ
