It’s Tuesday – 2 days in to a 4 day week – whoop!
1. Today’s the last day of March and I’m glad. Why? We’ve had 4 seasons in 2 days. Mild Saturday. Snow Sunday. 50 and breezy yesterday. Today? Who knows? Maybe April won’t be quite so finicky!
2. Stopped last night to get a few “treats” for the wee ones this weekend. We have an Easter gathering planned – an early brunch on Saturday. You see, when oldest boy & his wife divorced, Easter Sunday became yet another battleground with the other side. I – for one – was not going to be territorial about it and there was no backing down from them, the uber-Christians. I know, ironic, isn’t it? I get it – to a point – the kids should have that time with their cousins, we’re all about that. But there’s never been any g-i-v-e this way. So, about three years ago I announced we’d have our celebration on Easter Saturday. Period. I’m fine with it – it’s relaxed and fun and beats a “drive-by” visit any day of the week. Grandpa will join us and we’ll have four generations in my kitchen enjoying some of my “company French toast”, eggs to-order, bacon, ham, sausage, home-made hash browns, fruit, coffee, juice, etc. Oh, and a “magic” pumpkin spice cake for Gramps, his favorite. Yes, there’ll be way too much. Yes, he’ll take 2/3 of the cake home (shh, that’s the point) and yes, the littles will probably overdose on candy. They won’t be far behind us :).
Are you planning an Easter gathering? In what ways have your traditions had to adapt over time?

Happy Days this weekend. Sounds delightful.
Daughter is taking Friday off and grandson has no school. Yes!
nice! Enjoy Georgette, I know you will 🙂 MJ
Easter Saturday sounds great. The Cadbury’s meme is one of my favorites!
I think so, too. I love those little Cadbury mini eggs that look like robins eggs. And I don’t even really like chocolate all that much. That meme is hilarious 🙂 MJ
Sounds like you know how to make things work. Personally I love the brunch thing and if you didn’t live so dang far away, I’d join you! In our church we bless food on Holy Saturday so there always was a family gathering for ham sandwiches and Mom’s home made cheese. The only thing that can make Easter better is warm weather!
You are more than welcome to join us, I would love to have you 🙂 Thank you for the notation about blessing the food on Holy Saturday – that feels better~!! ❤ MJ
I would love to have brunch at your house. Sounds yummy!
You did the right thing – for yourself and everyone else – by deciding not to fight over who gets the kids on Easter Sunday. (Yes, I can say this to you while “letting go” still remains one of my biggest struggles! 🙂 )
My family has always celebrated with Easter Brunch. Used to always be at my parents’ house, but now entertaining has become too much for them. I’m hosting this year. Afterwards, we’ll go join Mark’s family at his sister’s house. They’ll have Easter dinner. We’ll wait to go until they’re done eating. We’ll probably need naps after brunch anyway!
And I would love to have you join us 🙂
Thank you for the support, I know you “get it,” and family dramas -whether it’s your own or inlaws or whatever – it’s just simpler to step back and remember what’s really important: being together. On any day ending in ‘y” 🙂
I hope you have a wonderful time with your family and Mark’s — sounds like my kind of day! Happy Easter! MJ
I saw the Cadbury comic on Facebook–too funny. French toast–yum!
