It’s Friday! It’s Labor Day weekend! Time for 5 randoms from my week ~ here we go…
1) Summer should be issued a speeding ticket. I don’t know about you but our summer took it’s sweet time getting here but seems to be in a hurry to depart. We’ve had a few weeks of “nice,” a few weeks of cool, and this has been the hottest one yet. But … with the end of summer comes the arrival of my favorite season: Fall! Here’s to bright sunny skies, humidity under 400%, leaves turning color, all things pumpkin and the sights and smells only Autumn can bring – yeah!
2) Heard this song recently and I smiled and sang along, especially the part about “Summertime in Northern Michigan” – sing it, Kid.
3) Hubbs commented recently, “Do you realize you hardly ever talk about work any more?” My response, “No need. I’m rat-free!” Whee – and – bonus: my shoulders no longer touch my ears!
4) A rainy day off and the house to myself — ooh, ahh. What started as a “100% chance of reading” kind of day quickly morphed into a “100% chance of working” day instead. A number of high priority requests came directly to me and responses are needed long before my Tuesday return. No worries, I cancelled my vacation time, brewed some more coffee, and carried on. I’ll wrap up soon and then the weekend can begin – whoop!
5) We had friends over last night to watch College Football and one dear lady brought her world-famous homemade veggie pizza – some of that was my breakfast today. Non traditional, yes, delicious, absolutely!

** What song makes you think of summer? Ever had a day off hi-jacked? How did you handle it? How’s your Labor Day forecast looking? **
Labor Day weather forecast is a bit gloomy, but friends are coming in the morning, and we’re doing the Farmers Market: rain or shine! We’ve been known to take our own sunshine along anyway. Happy Weekend to you, MJ!
I’m sure you two bring the sunshine where ever you go 🙂 MJ
Our heat wave finally broke today. Yay! “Under the Boardwalk” is my summer song along with a few others. For some reason “Pretty Girl” reminds me of summer too. I remember rocking to it at a really great picnic. Good times!
“Under the boardwalk” is surely a great summer song … Nice!! MJ
Our summer kick off song is School’s Out by Alice Cooper. Our summer seems to have ended last weekend with the storm that blew through. We’re still getting some rain, and a tiny bit more sun, finally. School started this past week and my fingers are crossed that this year will be a good one.
As for Labor Day weekend, I’m packing up my kitchen and starting some demolition. A new countertop will be going in, but I have the task of removing the old one. Wallpaper and backsplash will be changed as well, to paint and tiles. Also, my microwave oven will be replaced by one that will go over my stovetop. The only bummer is, the cabinet over the stove will have to be sacrificed to do this. It’s one I’m willing to make. And I’m hoping to have another outlet or two wired up. My kitchen only has 2 outlets, and they are fairly close together. The cabinets will stay; and at some point will have new/ different handles and a new coat of varnish. I hope to be organized enough to remember to take photos during the work so I can blog about it.
Good luck on your kitchen! That’s a lot to undertake but will be so great to have behind you 🙂 MJ
We’re headed to Seattle and the littles tonight, then on to visit friends tomorrow for the long weekend. Yippee!! Ready for a break and a road trip! Love driving! Nothing like a day of changing scenery with friends and dinner at the end of the road! Happy Labor Day! ~ Sheila
nice! I hope your weekend trip was glorious — details, please 🙂 MJ
And off you go again with a great set of “randoms.”
It’s fun and easy to do — and always random! 🙂 MJ
Great R5F, MJ! Isn’t that vegie pizza the BEST. I love it!!
Thank you, Shirley. That pizza is yummy and my friend’s is esp good b/c she chops up everything so small — delish!! MJ
We may be in for some rain, but I intend to check out the farmer’s market Saturday. The pizza looks great. Love that “fall” tree. So glad your job is enjoyable now.
Hope you made it to the farmer’s market – our rain held off until today, Tuesday. That is my favorite tree in the fall – it’s just spectacular against a brilliant September sky. My job was always pretty good, but I no longer have to dodge a rat – whee!! MJ
Yes, we did get to the farmer’s market, and came home with fresh tomatoes and a loaf of Asiago cheese bread. 🙂 Yay for a rat-free environment.
yummy yum! Here’s to being rat-free 😀 MJ
