It’s Friday Thursday and New Year’s Eve. Here are 5 randoms from my world:
1 Remember when New Year’s Eve was a big deal? Getting dressed up, wiggling into pantyhose and new shoes and a sparkly little something to go out with a bunch of people, dance, and kiss under the 5-4-3-2-1 Happy New Year countdown? It’s been years since I’ve felt like that. Yes we’re going out with a group tonight – to dance, sing and such -but there’s no pantyhose in sight :). I have a sparkly sweater in mind and we’ll probably be home by 10:30 to watch the ball drop in the basement ~ the only one I’m smooching is Hubbs. 🙂
2 I’ve been on vacation this week but didn’t feel like it until yesterday. You see I’ve been on conference calls and had people pinging me left, right and center. Yesterday I slept in, pushed away that nagging feeling saying I “should” accomplish something and instead embraced the massage chair that accompanied a pedicure. I sipped a Caramel Iced coffee and read Hollywood magazines, catching up on the lives of people I don’t know. When I was done I drove my relaxed self home and warmed up leftovers for supper. A better day was not to be had. ❤
3 “A year of ending and beginning, a year of loss and finding…and all of you were with me through the storm. I drink to your health, your wealth, your fortune for long years to come, and I hope for many more days in which we can gather like this.”
― C.J. Cherryh, Fortress of Eagles
4 Another year is upon us. I stopped making resolutions a few years ago and instead continue to do what works for me — clearing away the clutter and making room for the good. Getting rid of those who drain me and resisting the urge to let just anyone in. There’s a reason the rear view mirror is small and the windshield is wide. 😀
5 I’ve always loved this song. And so I ask you this, “What are you doing New Year’s Eve?”
Happy New Year, friends! ~MJ
I love that song too, MJ. Thanks for sharing, have not hear it in years! Hubby and I spend a peaceful night at home, welcoming in the new year. We have done that for many years now. Hope you enjoy your party and come home to welcome in the new year with only your Hubby. Happy & Blessed New Year 2016!
sounds wonderful, Shirley 🙂 There’s something about being home for NYE that is just so cozy & inviting, isn’t there? 🙂 MJ
We are doing an early Chinese dinner. Be home by 7 and then it’s into the jammies for a nice peaceful night. If (and that’s a big IF) I’m awake at midnight, I’ll give my husband and any cat within reach a big wet one! Hope your new year is great.
sounds perfect! Hope it was 🙂 MJ
Clearing away the clutter and making room for good. Wonderful. happy New Year MJ
Indeed. Let’s invite the positive, the joyful, the creative and the curious, the warm, the loving and the happy. All others – keep walking! 🙂 MJ
I guess we’ve never really celebrated New Year’s Eve. We’re usually winding down in front of the TV, watching the rest of the world celebrate. Hubby was “out” well before midnight tonight.
understand – I think many celebrate the same way – cozily tucked in at home. Love! MJ
The massage chair and pedicure sounds wonderful and well-deserved!
We had a quiet New Year’s Eve. My hubby had to go to work at 10:00, so we planned a home cooked steak and lobster dinner. I brought my mom over to join us and it was nice. I was in bed just after 10:00 and I have no regrets about that! 🙂
I hope this new year is full of opportunities to make room for more good in your life, Mj! Happy New Year!
The weather was good enough that I could bring my flip flops & wear those home (with the heat on, of course). No piles of snow to trudge through. A massage chair and a celebrity magazine (and the phone not ringing) just can’t be beat.
Your evening sounds lovely; it’s so nice you thought to include your Mom. I think of her when I read your posts, and wonder how she is coping with the loss of your dad and her sudden “independence” to make all the decisions. Hopefully she enjoys a Renaissance of sorts <3.
Here's to the new year; Cheers !! MJ
I was wondering how you managed a pedicure in the middle of winter. I’m hoping for a warm day soon, so I can schedule one!
Well, I’m not sure how I missed this post – I guess there was just too much going on in my little world, and this slipped by me! Sounds like you had a perfect NYE; ours was very quiet too: the best kind!
Nothing in the world relaxes me like a pedicure…. people speak of massages, and I had one. But for my money, it’s gonna be a pedicure! (I often say that I’m so relaxed after one, that I should have a DD to get me home!)
I’m wishing you and yours a wonderful New Year, MJ!
