Rain, rain go away, come again some other day.
Remember singing that as a kid? I do.
Although there were many times Mom sent us kids out to play anyways – and we did, our rubber boots splashing through the water, leaving welts in the mud below. Laughing as we rode bikes through puddles, legs straight out trying not to get wet but not caring if we did.
I was in Denver last week and was startled by how baked everything appeared. Trees, grass, fields – everything – was crunchy, brown, and dry. Locals spoke of record summer temps and I believed them.
The experience made me appreciate our Great Lakes humidity even more. A lawn that’s still green even as leaves change to red and gold.
My eyes dried up and my skin dried out.
I drank my weight in water.
~ But ~
I had Disney hair!
My natural curls relaxed in the absence of humidity and my hair was flowy, bouncy and – gulp- cooperative.
- As a girl, my favorite part of Sunday was watching “The Wonderful World of Disney” after supper. You?
- When’s the last time you went through a climate change and how did your body (or hair) react?
My stepkids live in Denver. It’s a great place but I couldn’t live there because of the crazy weather. I once visited Phoenix. That’s even more dry. My skin got so dry I had to buy a moisturizer similar to axle grease!
I hear you!! I used nearly a whole bottle of eye drops in 2 days in Denver!! MJ
There is nothing like the Great Lakes…
The humidity in summer is stifling … but the moist air at this time of the year is quite welcome 🙂 MJ
We went from the coast of Maine to the coast of Oregon, where we had mostly sun, and now back in WA we’re definitely back to rain, rain, clouds and more rain. Missing the sun already, and it’s only October.
Understand – the lack of sun here in winter can make me feel like I’m perpetually longing for a nap!
