The air is thick and hazy, humidity hanging like a curtain.
I reach into my bag of treasures, make a selection and smile sinking into the coolness of my leather chair.
Air-conditioning blowing, too hot and muggy to be outside.
Darn.
So much to do, no desire to do it.
Darn.
Summertime books are calling.
I’m diving right in … you?
βThe library in summer is the most wonderful thing because there you get books on any subject and read them each for only as long as they hold your interest, abandoning any that don’t, halfway or a quarter of the way through if you like, and store up all that knowledge in the happy corners of your mind for your own self and not to show off how much you know or spit it back at your teacher on a test paper.β

I LOVE a good book. When I was in high school that was my favorite place to hang. Need to find a new one to escape into. The one I’m currently reading is more of a personal growth book…good book but doesn’t scratch that “escape” itch.
I hear you, the personal growth books are interesting but not as compelling as a good tale ~ give me a good story line.
And I still love the library!
~ Cheers! MJ
I was right there with you MJ. Right here.
oh yeah! I took some time off later this week and am headed to the shores of Lake Michigan – I want to listen to the waves with my nose in a book … re-apply sunblock and sip my tea. NIRVANA!! Cheers ~ MJ
I work at a library, so I am right there with you. And these days libraries are about so much more than books. The resources they have available are incredible.
Dream job right there! Maybe when I retire π My Mom got me my first library card before I started school and she instilled a lifelong love of reading. Oh the places you can go with a good book! Cheers to you! MJ
