Small Comforts add up

Coming back from running errands Friday afternoon I grabbed a glimpse into my past:  someone carrying a basket of laundry into the laundromat.  That image transported me back to my college and young adult years – the laundromat years ~ ugh!

Who else remembers trying to time a visit just right so as to secure an open machine? Wondering if you had enough quarters? Being tempted to just buy more underwear and towels …. And hoping and praying no one removed your stuff from the dryer before the dryer was done.

It made me realize how small comforts add up ~

  • Coffee auto -brewing before I leave my bed.
  • A meal simmering in the crock-pot.
  • Stacks of books waiting for me to choose who’s up next.
  • A good tune playing in the background …
  • Check-ins from our sons, for advice, but just as often just to visit.
  • Windows open, bees buzzing, birds chirping.
  • And this one:
    • Warm laundry, right out of the dryer, no trip to the laundromat needed.  😀

What small comforts are you enjoying today?

  1. I know I’ve not been visiting much, but when I came over today to comment, I hardly could find your content for the ads. There are five large ads, including an extra large video telling me to visit Mexico. I know WP said that their ads would be “non-obtrusive,” but I usually just click out of pages that are so full of ads. I don’t mind small ads on blogs, but it’s really difficult to focus on your content in the midst of all this. I don’t mean this as a criticism at all, but I thought you might want to know.

    • ugh – that’s not good. Thank you for the alert 🙂 I will see if there are any settings I can tweak!! MJ

      • Sneaky ol’ WP sometimes makes policy changes that aren’t, shall we say, broadly announced!

      • Just to let you know, I didn’t have that experience at all when I came to your blog. No ads of any kind. Don’t know if it’s because I got here through the WP Reader (on my laptop), but I don’t see one single ad today.

      • thank you – I haven’t had it, either – regardless which platform I view it from. I don’t know if it might have to do with a certain browser or portal of entry? Weird! But thank you for letting me know 🙂 MJ

  2. Ah yes. So many small comforts in life. Right now I’ve got 3 deer in my yard, nibbling away. And one is quite curious about me looking at it, and it’s slowly moving closer and closer to the house (I’m sitting, looking out a picture window), staring at me and occasionally stomping one foot. It got right up the deck, and something startled it, so it’s back out in the middle of the yard.
