He is not here

Good morning ~ The Church may be empty but so is the Tomb!  He’s Alive! He’s Alive! He’s Alive and I’m forgiven Heaven’s gates are open wide, He’s alive!

 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I listen to this song every  Easter morning and it makes me cry every single time. This year, being locked in at home, the opening words really got to me…

The gates and doors were barred
And all the windows fastened down
I spent the night in sleeplessness
And rose at every sound
Half in hope of sorrow
And half in fear the day
Would find the soldiers breakin’ through
To drag us all away

But then I heard the good news:  He’s Alive!

He is not here!

Happy Easter

  1. Good morning MJ! Your post warmed my heart. I don’t take it for granted when I stumble across another person of faith in these days of anything goes. I too woke up with an Easter song flitting through my brain (the one you posted is powerful! I remember the first time I heard it on the radio) My “go to” Easter song seems to be the one by Glad,…. He is Risen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgbSMWNwI5A Later! DM

    • Thank you, DM. I had never heard your song before, listening now … thank you. Always love to hear new “stuff” and Acapella is so WOW! Have you ever listened to “Straight No Chase?” Hauntingly beautiful. Happy Easter and yes this is a time of Faith .. and Hopefulness, too.

      Bests, MJ

  2. That was great. I sent ot my Mom, she will love it.

  3. Hey MJ,
Thanks so much for sharing this song and your experience of this unusual Easter. Will we ever forget this one? May we keep remembering that good news, “He is Alive!”
    Best to you,
    Connie
