It’s Friday and time for some Randoms from my world. Here we go:
1 ) Opportunity knocks
Today a neighbor stopped by to tell us they were robbed. He admitted to leaving their garage open all night, by mistake. Pandemic or not, when an opportunity is there some have no problem helping themselves to what’s yours. Hubbs shared he is a night owl and regularly outside “at watch” late at night…. and he’s scared off a few shady characters in the process. That deep voice of his cutting through the dark probably landed them in therapy. #notsorry #thievessuck

2 ) Use it or lose it
Took two last-minute vacation days, spent both at/ in Lake Michigan. I work too hard to forfeit vacation days and have many left to use before year-end. Even if I go no farther than the yard, I’m using them ALL. #nomartyrshere

3 ) Cry baby, cry
Temps have been in the 90’s with high humidity – I’ve continued my daily walks, getting up & out before the heat. Sweat pours off me, cool showers are delicious and satisfying. I sleep well, move easily and feel calmer.
That + intermittent fasting = 19 lbs & 33 inches lost. #crybabycry

4 ) Classic Rock is classic for a reason
When I cook I love to listen to music, typically classic rock, R&B, old country, and some Gospel for good measure. No offense to Miss Swift, but I’m with Stevie all the way. #mykidspreferourmusic

5 ) Needed B.S.
There are no shortage of pundits & opinions clamoring for attention. To quote my Mom, “it has an off button.” I shut the “news” off, tune out the noise, and snuggle back into my book. Nope, the only B.S. I need is a beach & some sunshine. #30minutestothis

So … how was your week?
Never ever lose vacation days! Too precious!
Never! We can carry vacation days over, but in a job where I’m often too busy and scheduled to take the ones I have, there’s no sense in adding more to next year. That’s like trying to fit 10lbs of potatoes into a 2lb bag. Not gonna work! ~ MJ
Bravo for taking care of yourself, and for using up every single vacation day! Love the beach photos. And I’m still chuckling inside about Stevie Nicks. 😄 Around here its SSDD. (Same $h!t different day).
… thank you! the beach has been glorious. Lake Michigan is very high, so there’s been a lot of erosion and danger to homes .. some beach areas are dramatically smaller than they were.
I love that comment about Stevie Nicks .. and it’s so true! ~ wishing you all the best, MJ
Loved the music comparison! LOL I like your version of BS. Our beach does not look that sparsely populated. Hot here, too, but a tropical storm is moving into the neighborhood. I’ve seen reports of theft here. I can’t believe people still leave cars unlocked, some with keys inside. Duh! There was a time my car had mechanical issues and I thought that might be the best option…Enjoy your WEEKEND!
That version of BS works for me! Be safe in that storm, and stay alert!
Yes some still leave keys in cars .. hubby, years ago, used to leave his WALLET IN HIS CAR (in the garage) until I freaked out enough times that he brought it inside. Where he grew up still leaves doors unlocked at night .. but now he knows better. Sad state of affairs isn’t it?
Enjoy your weekend, too … and I loved your car story – ha!

Agree with you totally about “Miss Swift”, and is it just me, or do ALL her songs sound the same??? Congrats on the 19 pounds and daily walks. You go, girl!
.. not just you .. they all sound the same!
I’ve lost and gained the same 20lbs over the years but this is different … and you know it was WB that gave me a kickstart to better health. I still follow some of the principles .. and feel “finer than a frog’s hair.” The walking is purely for mental health ~~ I know winter’s coming but, for now, I’m getting out in it. Say hi to your crew from me and good to hear from you again, Dianna!! MJ
19 lbs and 33 inches. Wow! GREAT For you.
I’m telling you that Intermittent Fasting works (time restricted eating) – you’re not triggering an insulin spike all the time, no hangries, and the body recomposition is the Bomb! That’s the inches part, I’ve lost 5″ off my waist alone …… read “Fast, Feast, Repeat” or her first book, “Delay, Don’t Deny” by Gin Stephens http://www.ginstephens.com/ <<— and IF is FREE
I have never seen any of the great lakes and it amazes me what they look like. The only lakes I have been to are ones up in Maine where you can almost always see the other side far off in the distance. Your pictures look like the ocean to me. So beautiful.
They are amazing and different – Lake Michigan is so vast and blue while Lake Huron, on the East side, can look almost green. It’s humbling to be there and see how small WE are ! Thanks for commenting and please come back again, MJ
I will be back! Thanks!
