It’s Sunday morning, early December and here we are. Time for some random randoms from my part of the world. Ready? Let’s do this:
1 ) Sunday morning coming down: Sundays are my favorite, there’s no rushing, no fussing, just stirring and sautéing and tidying. Reading, regrouping, resting and readying. My day to recharge. ahhh…
2 ) Taters: Took this picture of 31lbs of potatoes I stacked up that represent what I’m leaving behind in 2020: 31lbs, 49″ and 60 – count ’em – 60 non-scale victories. Intermittent fasting is my life now. Want more info? Read the book, “Fast, Feast, Repeat” by Gin Stephens – it’s the health plan with a side effect of weight loss Fast. Feast. 3 ) Walking friends: Something that’s saved my bacon this crazy year has been my daily walks. These are non-negotiable. I might not take a lunch break but I always take a walking break. Now sometimes my walks are stomps, other times more leisurely, but regardless, I come back refreshed, energized and thankful. A highlight is seeing my buddy, Chief. It’s even better when he sees me ~ tail thumping, a big smile as he lopes over to lean in for a big hug and many pets and assurances that he is, indeed, a very very very very good boy.
4 ) Christmas: The tree(s) are up and decorated; the lights and pretty colors make me smile and remind us both of the promise of Christmas.
5 ) Kiss an Angel good mornin’: Rest In Peace, Charley Pride. Such a sweet and timeless message of “the secret of happiness.” It’s a simple thing …. and the answer is in this song that I always sing:
What’s saving your bacon right now?
Cat hugs. As annoying as they are when they want to be in my lap while I’m working on the computer, they make me smile. No agenda (well, maybe food) but genuine. Gotta love pets. Any kind of animals really.
I would take a cat hug, too!! some kitties on my walks but they are mostly wild/feral or in windows! yes any kind of animal will do. Except snakes. Not cuddling a snake! ~ MJ
Charley Pride’s best songs were Crystal Chandeliers and Does My Ring Hurt Your Finger.
OOH I forgot about Crystal Chandelier .. gonna go play it now, thanks!! MJ
Sleep is saving my bacon. And doing healing work. And hugs from my son. And hugging neighbors’ dogs. RIP Charlie.
Sleep is wonderful, and I agree. Hugging sons and dogs helps, too. MJ
I’m totally with you on the walks….I love my walks and even those days where I stretch myself and push over the 15km mark returning to the house exhausted, I love the feeling that just walking gives me
Love your Christmas trees.
Congratulations on the taters…😉
good for you ~ yes a good walk (stomp) is good for the soul. Even when I don’t feel like going, I always am glad I did!
Merry Christmas and pass the ‘taters 😉 MJ
Definitely pass the taters 😉
Your Sundays are my Saturdays. I get anxious on Sundays with the thought that “tomorrow” it’s back to work. I’m on your page with the walks, though. Working from home for the past 10 months (and now permanently,) I need that daily escape from the same four walls.
My Christmas tree went up the week before Thanksgiving. I may leave it up for a while. Then again, I may get antsy over this coming long weekend and take it down. Who knows?
Charlie Pride – a favorite of my mom’s – and I got to see him in concert in August of 2019. He was eighty-some years old already then, and his show was fantastic! I’m SO glad I got to see him live! He will definitely be missed.
Happy New Year, my friend! 🙂
I loved everything about this response, Tee. Off we go to a brand new year ~~ Thanks for visiting, and for your friendship, MJ
