A place to go

I’ve not been here.

Blogging.

I’ve been working, and when not, I’ve been walking, and when not, I’ve been reading.

Reading in my chair.

Reading under a blanket.

Reading my way through winter and the Pandemic.

On Zoom calls colleagues chat up what TV series they’re binging. I remain on mute with nothing to say.

In the evenings, after supper, Hubbs finds me back in my chair, with the TV off.

Savoring the silence.

We chat, he is thankful for sports and news, and me for my books.

I’ve been reading.

  • Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are.โ€“ Mason Cooley.

  1. It’s great to get lost in a book!

  2. What you been reading? I saw you got a notification for jury duty ๐Ÿ™‚ Had to go in yet? TV’s off @ our place too….since even before Jan 6th, both of us have cut way, way back on our media consumption. Can’t put a price tag on peace of mind. Most days I have it in spades. Good to hear from you MJ!

    • I’ve been reading lots of historical fiction! no JD until March – we’ll see how that plays out.
I just finished “The Exiles” by Christina Baker Kline and “1,000 White Women” by Jim Fergus, as well as its sequel, “The Vengeance of Mothers.” Putting in place new things learned in “Atomic Habits” by James Clear as well as other health/wellness books.

I love to snuggle into a comfy chair and tune out the noise of the world and yes, gather up some peace of mind! Bests, MJ

  3. Savoring the silence. Mmm. Yes.

    • Right? At some point, in the past 6 mos or so, the rest became noise. I aim to shut it down daily and savor what remains .. the silence! Delicious ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Yes. Savoring the silence. That’s it.

  5. Oh, watcha been reading? Do you have any recommendations? I’m reading a LOT more lately too and loving it. I’m always interested in knowing what others have enjoyed. (I just finished. When We Believed In Mermaids. Loved it!)
