Random 5 Friday – March Madness, Fools’ spring and memes per square inch

It’s Friday and time for 5 randoms from my world. Ready? Let’s do this.

1 ) 1 year ago today (March 20th) I had a scheduled day off planned because Hubbs & I were going to gather with friends and watch “March Madness” (college basketball tournaments). I don’t know much about basketball and have never watched a full game in my entire life, but Hubbs does and was a star player back in the day. So I go for him, the camaraderie and the food. 🙂 About a week before that fateful day, the tournament was cancelled b/c of the virus. A week later lockdowns started and we’ve been locked down ever since.

I’m just here for the wings … 😉

I had a scheduled day off today and over coffee this morning, Hubbs and I reflected on this past year ~ and what a tragic, strange and twisted year it has been. He’s watching as many basketball games as he can and I’m over here in my books ~ Onward!

2 ) The same habits I’ve chatted about before are same ones sustaining me ~~ work is v.e.r.y. busy, every day is long with many, many calls, however I remain thankful to be well employed with plenty to do. I take a break for a walk mid-day, I eat simple, nutritious foods; at night, the TV is off, books are open, and bedtime comes quickly. I’m up early and savor alone time before the race begins again.

This. All of it.

3 ) Hubbs golfed a week ago and is planning to go again shortly. I see everyone getting all lovey-dovey with this Spring weather that’s happening over here but there’s a very big part of me that just. does. not. trust. it. I’m sure we’re in the “Spring of Deception” and that a snowfall spanking is coming for us soon. After last year, I admit it, I have trust issues.

4 ) Speaking of last year, this made me laugh out loud. Gentlemen, start your engines:

Accurate

5 ) Lastly, I know this post violates MPSI (memes per square inch) rules, but I’m creatively spent. I miss writing. I miss my blogging friends. Some day it will come back to me. Until then, I give you this:

Yep, I need a vacation!

So, how’re you doing?

I love this!!! I’ve been watching college basketball most of the day—and will probably do so for the rest of the weekend! So much fun to read your blog!!! I love the memes that you’ve worked into this, too! Keep writing, please! I’ve missed your posts!

    • good for you ~ I can’t even really pretend to know what’s going on and only hope I cheer for the right team running the right way – ha! I am all about the outing and some wings. I’ll be back, and thank you for reading, MJ

  2. I had a hard time seeing the bottom of a car door. I am beach deprived! The year has been weird. It had it’s ups and downs for us but we are good.

  3. I’m loving the memes! Still laughing over the last one that I absolutely saw as a beach. And when it comes to watching professional sports, I’d be there for the wings too. Make mine teriyaki please (or buffalo with some non-dairy ranch on the side). Glad you’re making it through lockdown with your sense of humor still intact and reading lots of books. I’m still riding the rodeo of discomfort via Kundalini energy – but working with a new healing practitioner who’s a wonderful fit. And I’m hoping that she can help me move through a bunch of guck so I’m fully functional again. So ready for it.

    • thank you! The wings were “meh” but it was n ice to get out and be waited on. I know it is a lot to go through but I am learning a lot by your posts of your Kundalini experiences, Thank you. Take care! MJ

      • Thanks so much for the feedback. The healer I’ve been working with recently (a Reiki Master) is wonderful.

  4. Your workdays sound much like mine. I’m with you on the distrust of spring. And I also saw a beach.

It has been a very strange, very trying year. You are doing what you need to do to survive. It’s understandably hard to write these days. Hang in there, friend. Normal is slowly returning!

    • Rain coming tonight, which we need ~~ Bring on the beach!!

Yes, this past year has been a humdinger. So far this current year is challenging and tiring, too. Lots to be happy about though, and I’m very grateful to be well employed and at home. I think we will have a slow re-entry into the world …. take care, Tee, and thank you for your kind words. ~ MJ
