A Quiet Day

A haze hangs in the air ~ both from rising humidity & the smoke of last night’s festivities.

Front yard free show!

I’ve got a beef roast with carrots, onions and potatoes simmering in the crockpot; Hubbs has already commented on how good it smells. The A/C kicks on, and a table-top fan ruffles nearby papers. We refill our coffee cups and chat in the kitchen.

I could have gone to the beach today, but I wasn’t up to dealing with crowds or the hustling it takes to get there early.

I could have gone shopping or visiting today, but I don’t feel people-y.

I could have worked on one of many work project, but I’m not going to, I work enough

Instead I’m leaning into a book, doing some laundry, and savoring the gift that is a quiet day.

Yay – It’s Cherry season in Michigan

When was the last time you had a “quiet day?”

  1. Sounds just right.

  2. I almost hesitate to tell you 🙂 Friday, Saturday, Sunday and again today. The Mrs is gone visiting grand kids, left Friday, won’t be home until next weekend. Our work week schedule looks pretty light so, it almost feels like retirement around here. Totally get what you said about not feeling “people-y” Me too. Glad you’re having a nice quiet day to yourself. DM

    • That sounds wonderful, DM ~~ the happy news is she is off visiting with the peace and knowledge that you are ok with her doing so, not because you won’t miss her, because of course you will, but because you two are comfortable enough in your relationship and standing that you do not need to spend every minute together to feel connected. Same over here – yay! I know many couples who cannot do this. And yea – It’s a people-y kind of week, so I am glad I pulled back and had a quiet day ahead of it ~ Take care! MJ

      • Hadn’t thought of it quite like that. I like that. We are OK apart for a spell. I know she’s soaking up grandma time. only get to see those little ones a few times a year, and when they’re little you never know how they will respond to a stranger. Always good to hear from you. you have a good rest of the week too. DM
